Pre-order

I ended up pre-ordering with Communication Electronics this week.
Have checked with Ham Station, Grove and the above for an updated arrival date and no one still seems sure.
C.E. is stating they will ship by 7/6 or earlier.

Which I know I will appreciate myself as I have no need for either... well maybe the software to start until Butel comes out with thier release.

Which is why I'm probably going to hold off on getting one. I can't really see any reason to buy the UASD software if Butel will be releasing ARC15 or whatever they call it. Actually, it would be really nice if ARC996 also programmed the BCT15, but Butel seems to have gotten away from the business model they used for the 250/296/785/796 radios.

There was an advantage for early adopters to have the UASD software available when (or before) the radios came out. I was able to set up several systems and profiles before I had the 996. I'd do the same for the BCT15 if the software was available and free. Otherwise, I'll just have to wait until ARC15 is out.

While I can't argue that ARC is good software, I have had ARC246 and now have ARC396.

I actually find myself using UASD more than anything. In fact, unless someone specifically request an ARC file from me, I never even open ARC.

I find that having a BCD396T and soon BR330T and BCT15 it simplifies it for me to just copy and paste the non-digital files. I am sure it can be done on ARC as well. But I am happy using UASD. There are some features that ARC has that I like, but none I can't live without.

Maybe it's because I'm just much more used to the GUI of the ARC software, but I find UASD cumbersome to use. I can also do cut and paste very easily between the various ARC programs. So, if it becomes a choice between buying the UASD software and getting a BCT15 the second it comes out or waiting say a month or so until ARC15 is out, I'm going to wait.

What I've found with software is that once people become used to a particular program's features, it takes a lot to get them to switch over. I'm no exception to that rule.

My BCT15 is on pre-order with Glenn at ScannersUnlimited. Nothing to do now but sit back and wait for his call with the tracking #. I honestly was going to wait about a month to let any "bugs" get worked out first. I bought the BCD396T on pre-order and it had the print issue, but Uniden fixed it no questions asked, so I figured why not! If something goes wrong, it is under warranty.

I have all the UASD files created (with GPS Coordinates). I am hoping Mr. Opitz delivers us some good news this week! Hopefully they will ship in time to get them before the 4th!

Matt:

There is an excellent chance that you aren't going to have any time for fireworks this 4th of July...

Sitting here looking at the calander, I realize that if I am to get a BCT15 before July 4th (read before or on July 3rd), it will have to ship from my supplier (Glenn at SU) tomorrow or Wednesday. Otherwise, the weekend will cause it not to reach me by the 4th (UPS doesn't deliver here to my hick town on Saturday). Thursday would be the latest ship date, and I don't see it making it here in that time using regular UPS Ground....just thinking out loud on these boards here. Speculating the exact ship date.

I ordered a BR330T from Glenn on Friday, it shipped the same day (that evening). The last entry in the UPS tracking is that it departed San Pablo, CA at 04:32am on Saturday morning the 24th. No other scans have been done since then. I can only assume it will either go to Memphis, then to Little Rock, then to my local distribution center or possibly skip Memphis and come straight to Little Rock. This will be a good measure of how long it takes from sunny California to hot and muggy Arkansas.

What is ironic, is the BCT15 comes into CA (LAX port) then travels all the way across the country to Fort Worth. Then it goes back across the country to Glenn in Cali (near San Fran) and then I buy it and it is shipped all the way back across the country to Arkansas. It would seem that Uniden and I could work out some type of deal to keep the radio from traveling needless miles. LOL. :D

Boy if I were a beta tester, this wouldn't need to happen to such an innocent little radio...hint, hint, wink, wink.

I haven't heard from Glenn either. No matter if it shipped today, normal UPS Ground, i woudn't get mine before the 4th. I ordered a BR330T from Glenn on Friday and today it is in Mesquite, TX. I assume it will go to Little Rock, AR today, then to my local distribution before morning and be delivered tomorrow. 6 days for delivery. Not Glenn's fault at all, Arkansas is just a long ways from California. lol But my BCT15 will definately not make it here before the 4th normal UPS Ground.

I may talk to him about upgrading my shipping? If it will actually speed anything up. I have paid for extra shipping in the past only to get it the same day as I would've if it were normal Ground.

When Glenn calls, if it isn't to late, I may upgrade to the 3 day select if it isn't too much more $$$ Matter of fact, I may just call him later (after he is open for an hour or so).

I've had no issues with it at all... Nothing rubbing off, no performance, works very well on my UHF EDACS system, programming simple, software does the job. There's nothing I've seen that would have me not recommend it, I bought a 2nd one already.
