Lost another one to unnecessary encryption. As for their own controlled feed, I'm sure anything interesting will be void from their feed and all we'll get is mundane noise complaints and well being checks. RIP to another agency lost. On the plus side, I just talked myself out of getting another scanner on this tax-free weekend. There isn't much point.

Also, it's either a very slow day in Boston, or the RapidSOS feed isn't working properly.

Feed's working again (1315) - just heard a dispatcher confirm a time as 1310 - so it's a 5 minute delay.

Thanks for the update. Five minutes is nothing. I would have guessed 10-15 minutes. Hopefully the kinks are ironed out with the feed.

Don't say that too loud, don't want them bumping it up!

Trying to figure out the best way to listen to them on a mobile device without the screen locking and ultimately stopping the feed. I have a feeling this is better suited on an Android.

I can confirm that it isn't. I have a brand new phone on a stable wifi connection, audio is all choppy and sounds like crap.

From RapidSOS' website-
"Stay Updated for Best Performance For the best experience, please use the latest version of Chrome. Firefox, Safari, Edge, or a device running iOS 17+ or Android 8+."

I have no idea about iOS, but Android 8 came out ages ago (2017), so it probably doesn't take a powerful OS to run it.

Sorry you’re having issues. I was thinking more from a customization standpoint.

I’m not sure if there’s a way to keep a webpage or app open and not auto lock on an iPhone.
I’m sure with an Android there are probably options or plugins to allow you to do something like that.

I’m wondering if there’s a way to code a webpage to allow full screen, and prevent the auto lock - and somehow use an iFrame or embed the RapidSOS stream/page on that webpage.
You’d still run the risk of walking around with your device unlocked and prone to accidental taps.

Would it be possible to get the audio stream from the RapidSOS page, then pipe the audio from the streaming channels to a Broadcastify stream or any other recording platform?
Does BPD have any plans besides RapidSOS to stream audio to Broadcastify in order to listen to radio traffic in the past?

There are some websites designed to keep your screen unlocked, I suppose you could try to use one of those in a separate tab if it'll work?

Like this one-
