Incident at Indianapolis Govt Center today

Arrived in Indy today for a conference, and heard lots of activity on 3712 and 4608 - appears to be some clampdown at the Indy Govt Center. Everyone was asked to move to the Emergency channel (3712) and not let anyone leave. Had to leave radio at about 8.50

Talkgroups are Govt Center Police and Govt Center Emergency Channel respectively. I drove up West St and didn't see anything obvious. Voices sounded tense so I don't think it was an exercise

In Zionsville. Described as an oil fire. Carmel, Noblesville and Fishers are responding with their hazmat teams. They are calling for as much foam as possible! They are unable to establish a patch with Zionsville directly. They were going to patch through MECA but they were unable to get it to work. They mentioned something about point-to-point. Someone asked if the state radios they had were working.

This is at Taylor Oil Company and is a BIG FIRE with oil relerase with Carmel Zionsville Boone County Carmel Pike IFD Airport and Fishers and EMA all working it smoke can be seen for miles ops on Safe T Boone county fire Carmel FG3 Meca when it works and some on VHF area is from 96th street and to 106th street and zionsville rd

I didn't have Zionsville FD TGs programmed so I didn't catch those. I monitor the Hortonville tower and I was not in search mode. I heard some traffic on the TGs that w8fcc mentioned.

This is a prime example of why you need COMAPATBLE radio systems. Having to patch comms only causes more problems and delays, hopefully it won't cause loss of life. Not sure why but lately the patches have not worked for MECA. And then you have Hamilton Co who might learn something from today, although they haven't learned from past experiences either.....

I saw the large black smoke from 86Th and Michigan Road today while eating lunch with my wife and my son.I called IFD and told them what I was seeing and asked for Pike Engine 113 to be dispatched to the area of 86Th and Michigan Road for a Investigation.Overheard on IMPD NW Dispatch that a IMPD officer had been flaged down and he"' asked if Pike Fire had something buring in the area".Control responed back to the Frank car that it was a building fire at 10700N. Zionsville Road in Boone County.Right after Engine 113 responed north on Michigan Road and then Medic 113 responed from the east of me with lights and siren and they were going west on 86Th Street and then went north on Michigan Road. Channel 6 WRTV, Channel 13 WTHR had the story at 6PM on Sunday's newscast at 6PM. Channel 59 Fox news will have it at 10PM.Channel 8 will have it also at 10PM on Ch 23 and then again at 11 on Ch 8. From my home at 79Th and Michigan Road saw Chopper 8 fly over my home enroute to the fire along with Skycam 6. It was monitored on Boone County SAFE-T that during this event that they were going to be having a briefing at 2PM in the parking lot at Pizza King on Zionsviile Road across from Taylor Oil.Channel 6 and Channel 13 talked to people who were inside the Pizza king eating lunch and the described that they saw "Fireballs shoot into the sky" and the also heard a series of loud explosions while this was going on. Fire Point to point(Mutural aid) on 154.280 was very active. 123.050 and 123.025 were also very active.

Icy Roads in Hamliton County

Lots of accidents in Hamilton County on I-69 and side roads. SR 38 NW of Noblesville is a solid sheet of ice! There are some accidents on SR19 in Tipton County also. Looks like significant freezing rain reported by LE and DOT.

Hamilton Co. Sheriff's car involved in one of the wrecks on SR19. The roads are getting worse by the minute!

Danvile and other Hendricks County fire units are responding to a report of a fire in the PHI helicopter which is sitting on the pad at Hendricks Regional Health in Danville. Report came from the pilot. Engine 92 on the scene reports that the fire was out on their arrival. Additional units are being disregarded.
