They don't know what it was. There were thoughts of an airplane crash but they never found any evidence of that so its a big mystery. Now they are think it was a metoriate or something like that. Hard to say really.

My quess is it has something to do with the Military, even more so since Grissom is right there.. As a result it wont be told even if they do find it or they have already found what it was and is just keeping it quiet ..

Grissom... that makes sense. But if a plane crashed civillians would have certainly seen something like smoke. If anyone get more info on this, please share.

Grissoms planes were all on the ground an hour before the incident. WTHR is going to have an update in a couple minutes...something has been found! But what?

Meteor shower or F16's on training. Apparently the IANG has been training in the area and dropping flares, so apparently it's the latter....

They claim it was ANG birds out of Ft. Wayne. Probably was, but would counter-measure flares give off a "fireball" appearance 20,000+ feet up?

Anyway, when I was living in Vincennes, all sorts of creepy stuff would go on. Lights in the skys, low-flying aircraft tracking along US 41, meteors, Lucky Point, etc. Of course thats in the area of Crane Naval, Newport Chemical, Terre Haute AFB, etc.

yeah, the flares look pretty neat, but the explosion was the sonic boom

Suprised no one noticed the AC were up , but at the moment I can't hear them as my scanner that monitors them is offline while doing some antenna changes.

Whew! I wasn't seeing alien UFOs last night. I didn’t hear anything but I saw flares being dropped all the way from West Lafayette. I just happened to go out on my balcony and look toward the moon in the east when I saw lines of yellowish lights. Thought at first the lights were a plane on approach path to Purdue Airport. I quickly figured out the lights weren't from a plane when there weren’t any green or red ones and they appeared sequentially in lines and disappeared.

I’m just glad to hear it was something military because otherwise I wouldn't have said anything if I hadn't read this thread. Don't want people thinking I'm crazy or seeing things. ;-)

Too late...... :) :) :)

Yeah the INANG said today that they had dropped flares during manuvers last night and that the explosion was actually a sonic boom that followed the dropping of the flares. This goes with reports by some on the ground they saw aircraft lights before during and after the flares.

You would think the ANG would at least warn the dispatch centers in the area they will be doing these kinds of manuvers.

EARTHQUAKE!
5.4 magnitude
The center of the earthquake was in Illinois, south of Vincennes, but north of Evansville.

Traffic is on SW-MA-CALLING and IDHS-EOC

No reports of damage at this time.

Facade of a building fell off in Louisville KY, I expect there will be some damage in the area, but all should be minor.

Rolled me outta bed. Pro-96 was blaring like crazy. Lots of DOHS traffic. Hendricks Co had mutliple reports of B&E's in progress due to the 'quake.

The dogs and cat went nuts and woke me just prior to the "quake", didn't really notice it because of them being so nuts.

Large fuel fire near Putnamville, two large tanks, smoke can be seen for miles at Martin Marietta quarry off I70, this apparently started about the time of the earth quake but uncertain if it's related.

Actually it was an asphalt plant that caught fire... the quarry didn't.... wanted to clarify that :)
