Here's a quick shot. The case is for the BCD436HP, but the SDS100 fits just fine. FYI, 436 is just slightly taller than the SDS100.

Yes, there are cutouts for the USB ports and the Menu & Function buttons on the other side. They line up perfectly.

Thanks budevans for your picture and information regarding using a case designed for the BCD436HP with the new SDS100.

I did a little further research as I wanted to compare the exact dimensions of the SDS100 to the BCD436HP. Unfortunately I couldn't find the exact dimensions of the SDS100 anywhere in print at this time but I was able to find the exact dimensions of the West Marine VHF470 handheld marine radio which is manufactured by Uniden and has the same form factor as the SDS100. I was also able to get the exact dimensions of the BCD436HP from the Uniden owner's manual. Here are the comparisons in inches:

West Marine VHF470 handheld marine radio (without antenna and belt clip): 6.122 High x 2.562 Wide x 1.633 Deep

Uniden BCD436HP scanner (without antenna and belt clip): 6.3 High x 2.8 Wide x 1.5 Deep

As you can see the dimensions are extremely close between the 2 radio cases. Based on those figures and the picture that budevans provided above of his BCD436HP soft leather case on his SDS100, I would say that the current cases available for the BCD436HP will more-than-likely work just fine with the new SDS100. Even with the new larger battery and battery door there should be enough "give" in both the nylon and soft leather cases to accommodate and not be a problem. The hard leather case could possibly have an issue with the larger battery/battery door as there is typically not much "give" in a hard leather case. YMMV

Please post any additional information and/or photos that you may have regarding a case for the new SDS100 scanner.

The SDS-100 with the belt clip holder removed does not fit the hard leather BCD436HP case from Scanner Master. Width and height are fine, it is the depth dimension that is problematic. The SDS-100 will start to go into the hard leather case if pushed with some force, about two-thirds the way. Also, with the hard leather case need to be careful of the rear case rivets not scratching the scanner (I have clear packing tape over the rivets to protect the scanner). Based on other posts, I have the soft leather BCD436HP case on order.

If anyone is looking to purchase the Uniden nylon carrying case number A2829 (which is currently being marketed/sold for their BCD436HP handheld scanner) for their new SDS100, I've compiled a list of dealers that sell the genuine Uniden case. (This Uniden case allows the use of the factory belt clip that came with the scanner and you don't have to remove the belt clip knob/button from the rear of the scanner.) The following list shows the full delivered price from each dealer (minus any applicable sales tax to your state/locality) along with the item charge and shipping charge breakdown:

1. Universal Radio $28.90 ($21.95 plus $6.95 shipping): https://www.universal-radio.com/catalog/scanners/0436.html

2. Ham Radio Outlet $29.90 ($19.95 plus $9.95 shipping): https://www.hamradio.com/detail.cfm?pid=H0-013541&oi=0

3. Zip Scanners $31.98 ($24.99 plus $6.99 shipping): https://www.zipscanners.com/uniden-bcd436hp-nylon-case.html

4. Bearcat Warehouse $32.90 ($24.95 plus $7.95 shipping): https://www.bearcatwarehouse.com/accessories/nylon-carrying-case-for-bcd436hp

NOTE: All 3 photos below show the Uniden A2829 carrying case on the Uniden BCD436HP scanner.

Yes, the 436 nylon case fits the SDS100 nearly perfectly. The display and keypad cover fits great and even the side holes align properly and there's enough room at the bottom for the extended battery & cover when available. I'm sure most SDS100 owners know this already. Don't need to be scratching up our new Uniden Scanners.

Are you referencing the genuine Uniden nylon case A2829 for the BCD436HP in your comments or the Scanner Master nylon case 01-581859 for the BCD436HP?

The way to tell them apart is the genuine Uniden case has a cutout in the back that exposes the attached button/knob to allow you to use the factory Uniden belt clip while the case is on (see my post #23 above). The Scanner Master nylon case (BCD436HP - Uniden Nylon Case/Swivel Belt Clip | Scanner Master) has its own belt clip attached to the case itself and it also has a loop that goes around the antenna.

BTW there must already be a run on these cases for the SDS100 as the Scanner Master nylon case for the BCD436HP has already gone out-of-stock.

The ones I have are the open back. Didn't know there were two types of nylon versions being sold.

After playing with SDS for the past few weeks, i decided against any type of case due to the heat this thing generates. I will wait on the new battery thing and see if that brings operating temps down before shoving it in a case.

The nylon case from Scanner Master will not fit the SDS100. I wound up ordering one to see the difference as per trp2525 post #25 stated there were two types being sold. You might get your SDS100 in one but you will catch hell trying to get it out and it would never fit when the extended battery is released. That said, The Scanner Master 436 Nylon Case is a Far Better Quality case for the 436 than the others. Thicker with more protection. I have been using the other nylon A2829 case for both the my 436 and SDS100 since I got them. Fits the SDS100 great. The A2829 nylon case will also accommodate the extended battery I believe because there is extra room at bottom of case as the SDS100 has the tapered down bottom. I will use the A2829 on my scanners during general use in my vehicle and home and use the Scanner Master cases when I go to events that might subject them to worse hazards. Scanner Master said they were working on a heavy duty nylon case for the SDS100 like they offer for the 436.

Thanks captainmax1 for the update regarding the Scanner Master nylon case for the BCD436HP vs. the Uniden A2829 nylon case for the BCD436HP. I'm sure the information will be useful to anyone currently seeking out a suitable case for their new SDS100.

I purchased the Uniden A2829 nylon case for my SDS100 and, like you, I am also satisfied with the fit. I wanted a case right now while my SDS100 was brand-new to protect it from any scratches or digs BEFORE they happened. Also, like you already mentioned, the larger battery/battery door should not be a problem fitting into the A2829 case.

For those fortunate enough to live close to a Ham Radio Outlet retail store, you can pick up the Uniden A2829 case there for $19.95 and save the $9.95 shipping charge: https://www.hamradio.com/detail.cfm?pid=H0-013541

I bought the scannermaster nylon case when I purchased my SDS100 and I am not crazy with the fit. A bit tight and a lot of gripping to get it out. The power/avoid/zip buttons are partially hidden by the lower lip of the case. Slots and buttons don't really line up like they should. But, I needed a case NOW and I suppose it's worth 25$ to protect the scanner until a custom fitted case is released. I can always use it as a standby case later. Just a word to the wise tho, the scannermaster nylon case is not such a good fit.

Your information is consistent with what captainmax1 posted above in his post #29. Apparently the Uniden A2829 nylon case designed for the BCD436HP and mentioned in this thread is a better choice for the SDS100 for those needing/wanting a case right now.

Thanks for your input. I was about to waste $25 on one of these cases since there's no custom made case available. I will be a "waiter" now on the case.

While the Scanner Master version nylon case for the BCD436HP might not be a good fit for the SDS100, the genuine Uniden A2829 nylon case for the BCD436HP fits the SDS100 quite well as captainmax1 and I posted above in this thread. Also Ham Radio Outlet has the Uniden A2829 nylon case for $19.95 as posted above in this thread.

That case is not designed for the SDS100, it was designed specifically for the 436. Once the SDS100's larger battery door is in hand ScannerMaster will have custom fitted cases manufactured, just like they did for the 436 and other models.

Do you guys have a problem with the heating inside the case?

While using a 436 soft leather case in the interim until custom cases are made up for the SDS100 so far we have not seen any marked increase in heat accumulation while encased. I have not tried other cases yet.

I bought one a few weeks ago at Ham Radio Outlet in Phoenix. They had the other cases available too, and none of those were a decent fit, even with the currently smaller battery that came with the radio. It's not an identically perfect fit, but it does the job to keep the radio safe.

Jesse,

Thanks for posting the pictures of your SDS100 in the Uniden A2829 nylon case. While it might not be a 100% perfect fit, it is pretty darn close. A nice feature of the Uniden A2829 case is that it has a cutout in the back so that you can continue to use the Uniden belt clip that came with the scanner when the case is on the radio.

The Ham Radio Outlet price of $19.95 for the Uniden A2829 case can't be beat especially if you live next to one of their 13 retail locations allowing you to avoid the $9.95 shipping charge (if your total order is not over $100 which entitles you to FREE shipping): https://www.hamradio.com/detail.cfm?pid=H0-013541
