I was recently in the Charleston area for a few hours and didn't hear a peep out of Charleston County FD/EMS Dispatch channel? Are they still using it? Is it encrypted now? I only had a unication and no scanner with me so couldn't do much to figure it out. Nothing changed with my programming so I am worried it's one of the two options I suggested. Can anyone in the area confirm?

I've been wondering the same thing :(

I only listen to the live audio through broadcastify, but back on 1/19 all of the charleston county talk groups just stopped coming through on the calls platform. the regular "charleston and lowcountry public safety" feed is still up, and it even says which talk group is talking each time a call comes through, but idk enough about the actual scanning/broadcasting process to know what's up with it. hoping someone else has an answer tho!

I'm not local, but played around with some recent recordings on Alertpage. It does sound like some encryption on Charleston County FD/EMS Dispatch. I am still getting unencrypted dispatches on various department Ops channels though, including Charleston City.

The dispatch channels have been encrypted for awhile, the incident channels went encrypted this week.

This is a bummer. I'll never understand why radio admins/powers that be think fire dispatch/Fireground TGs need to be encrypted. PD, special ops, narcotics, etc is completely understandable. Thanks for the update, hopefully someone can update the RR database accordingly.

I didn't either, until it was explained to me. Evidently, app developers were using AI to monitor the online feeds, transcribe them, and use that data to push real-time alerts to people who weren't ever monitoring the feed. You could get a line by line update about an EMS or fire call at your neighbor's house through a free app, without even knowing what a scanner is.

Oddly enough, the EMS to hospital channels are still in the clear. Can't really argue this is about patient privacy when that is in the clear.

Certing stuff anditbeing encrypted we got carry radios are what we've tried to talk to other hospitals if there encrypted are we add channel and they have key codes so they are unlocked for us just case we got.to.respond to nither hospital

This is exactly why all of these changes happened.

And you will see the trend rapidly pick up steam, particularly as more products based around the same concept come to market. RR themselves are promoting one such product that will, eventually, put themselves out of business.
