Conventional Trackin?

In there a way to track conventional simplex freqs and get the RIDs and such from them?
Im thinking its a no but.. just incase. The fire depts all use simplex channels and was wondering if i could some how decode them to see whos talking.. So like all the data trunking programs but for non trunked systems

Do they use a Unit ID system?

How would i find that out? I just hear the trucks give their unit number. And if the dispatcher missed the call somehow they knew witch unit it was. Same with st.thomas police

Its possible they use something like MDC-1200. Do you hear any noise before and/or after they a unit talks? You may be able to get a decoder to view it.

Its possible that they know who they dispatched to the call, and maybe even know the voices.

On some of the channels i hear an annoying cherp after a unit talks. Whast that for?

MDC-1200 Post. You will get a 4 digit number, but unless you know who was assigned that number, that information will be useless to you.
