171.255 11K0F3DJN - Foymount - Turris Communications Ltd. - Call Sign - CHC951
This one appears to be this one, Christie & Walther (Foymount) Trunking System, Foymount, Ontario - Scanner Frequencies however I have heard digital noise on 166.290, 167.400 and 171.255

The only thing I've been able to get from this so far is 166.290
2016/12/06 15:03:50 LRRP; Tgt=3 Src=62

It's also coming up with DMR as being the type. But yet I can't figure out what's on this or have anything else worth identifying. Although there is activity going on in the DSD+ screen.

Ok, so I've got an update. I've been able to actually hear digital audio and have a talkgroup of 100 listed with RID's of 3 & 11 and using Slot 1 on the frequency of 166.290

Also found was this.
2016/12/07 14:21:20 Enc Group call; TG=778 RID=12419 Slot=1 Alg=BP
2016/12/07 14:32:52 Enc Bcast OVCM Private call; Tgt=19200 Src=17270 Slot=1s Alg=BP

Looks like talkgroup 778 is Encrypted?

I still have no info on the type of system that it is. Can anyone help with this? Is this a single frequency DMR type that I'm listening to.

Confused.

I checked IC database, don't see anything else near you. I plugged in that frequency and have so far not heard anything, but during enhanced conditions sometimes get an NXDN48 system from Rigaud to the east of Ottawa.

Maybe it's something other than routine business operations, as not much DMR is ENC in this area; maybe a reason it would not show up in TAFL.

That's what I mean. The license info doesn't say anything new. It's still part of the group of frequencies that was part of the LTR system in Foymount. In which case I'm pretty sure that's obsolete now.

I've looked over the other frequencies associated with it and haven't heard a peep on them. Except this one.

All the DSD+ is giving me is its DMR. Aside from what I've posted. That's all I got. I think I'm gonna have to sit on it for a day or so and see if any audio recordings gain me any info.

Also, all the other frequencies under this license are listed as analog, only 166.290 is listed as being a digital modulation although they all have the same emission code.

Ok, so I've been able to determine that it's Madawaska Valley Twp. Public works that's using 166.290 DMR Slot 1 Talkgroup 100 (I believe the tower is located at Foymount) after listening to recorded audio files from this morning. Seems the plows were out early clearing off all the roads in the area which helped determine who's using the system.

Looks to me like it's a 1 channel system of some sort. The license info I've already posted in this thread. Yet, all the other frequencies associated with the license tends to go with the Foymount VHF LTR System. Which by the way is still operating on limited frequencies as I heard some chatter there this morning as well.

So how do I add this to the database then at this point with this much info?

Also, what is the difference between Slot 1 and Slot 2 and Ch. 1, 2, 3 and 4 and how do I reflect this in my files as well as the database?

And one last question, how do you determine which is primary control channel or alternate control channels? When they both alternate from time to time.

We like to help

We like to help, but I am east of Ottawa so can't help with those systems.

Lots of fun with this snow listening to all the activity.

Since the other frequencies show Colour Code 0 (zero) on the Turris system, I am assigning a CC 0 for the MV Public Works.

You sure about that...CC=0 exits but have never seen it used, including Sys 201 on UHF; so VHF has this?

I have checked it now that I've seen some activity on it today already. It's DCC:1

2016/12/15 13:30:19 Group call; TG=100 RID=67 Slot=1 2s

and in my DSD+ Event screen on the bottom line it shows DMR DCC:1

With that confirmation, I've changed the Colour Code to 1.

Thanks! :)

So now that I've managed to get this far. What else can I do with this software? Or am I basically limited to pretty much these systems in this area?

My findings of the radio ID's are coming along as well too. Especially with the Co. of Renfrew users. I started to list the radios to there patrol yards whenever I catch there check ins.

Other then that, that's about all I've messed with. Software wise, I need to learn how to size each window properly and have them open up in there respective areas that I like to work with.

I haven't tried using this software in the SDR# program because I couldn't get it to work properly. (Sorry, I know that's for a whole other thread in another forum)

One thing maybe you (or someone) could check is Lanark Cty. Roads on 169.365 .
A few days ago I heard DMR activity but it was marginal, could not copy voice.

What is wrong with your SDR application?

Perhaps we can help. I use it all the time, it works great.
