I'm pleased to announce that the months-long investment, setup, analysis, and testing of my whole scanning project seems to be coming to a reasonable point to say it's STABLE and can run without much of my intervention. The minor details (UIDs, etc) continue in the background, and I seek to continue improving the project as my time allows.

I couldn't have and wouldn't have made it this far without the continued assistance and communication with @codeplug and the contributions of local RadioReference members further helping our community, as well as @ProScan for making great software available to make this process even easier! Thank you all SO MUCH!

Dale County and Ozark feeds are available here:
Audio Feed - BCD996P2
Calls Feed - Dale County
Calls Feed - Ozark City

Houston County and Dothan feeds are available here:
Audio Feed - BCD325P2
Calls Feed - Dothan City

The current setup is as follows:
  • ALEA (Conv 150MHz), Dale County (P25 700MHz; Conv 450MHz), Ft. Novosel (FD/EMS only; P25 138MHz), Ozark City (P25 700MHz) - BCD996P2, mag mt roof antenna
  • ALEA (Conv 150MHz), Houston County (NXDN 450/460MHz), Dothan City (P25 800MHz) - BCD325P2, mag mt roof antenna
  • Dale County, Dothan City, Ozark City Calls - Raspberry Pi 4 running SDRTrunk, 3x RTL-SDR, mag mt roof antenna
  • A continuous fan to keep things cool in this Alabama heat!

Everything seems to be running great, signal and reception seems to be a good 4/5 to 5/5 most of the time.
All audio feeds have a ground loop isolator, no hum should be coming through at all. Alpha tags enabled.
There is some slight chopping on audio every once in a while, no amount of trial and error has led me to a solution to that yet.

If anybody has any comments, please let me know here. Thank you for stopping by!

06/28/23 - 14:00 CT; Ozark Calls Node - Issue Fixed
  • There was a configuration error that caused Ozark Calls to not be streamed. This issue has been fixed.

Upcoming Maintenance, Dale County Audio Feed - Adding Frequencies For Testing
  • In order to assist another member, there will be a temporary addition of frequencies from Barbour County added to the Dale County audio feed. This should not impair any regular functionality and will remain on the scanner for several days unless there are issues experienced. These frequencies will be locked out on the primary feed.

I have spent a lot of time debating whether it would be a "best interest" move to lock out LE talkgroups from the audio feeds. I believe that the Broadcastify Calls platform is a good place for LE talkgroups to remain accessible. I'd rather the audio feeds (which end up on phone apps, etc) NOT attract attention in a way that encourages even as much as a discussion of encrypting. I will revisit this decision in the future and accept comments on it going forward.
