I know it’s not sustainable but I enjoy the manual paging over dispatch Debbie. After a while it’s just a constant drone of robot voice. For a day one dispatcher gave all the call notes in the dispatch which was cool to hear. 59s got what was reported as a 10 car MVC with one into a house

Dispatch Debbie is down, too. I miss the real tone-outs with "Let's roll 'em! Let's roll 'em!"

You could tell the urgency of a call by the tone of the dispatcher's voice.
Engine 8 going to that investigation which turned out to be the 3 alarm fire the other night is one of those examples. The urgency in that guys voice when he asked 660 to transmit a box for 5 units on fire in an apt. I too have been reminded of the days prior to MDCs when more stuff was said on the radio.

Heard a few times "Roll up your boots we have a fire" back under manual dispatch days. Love how Plano fire uses the Emergency 51 (LA County Fire) tone for structure fires.

The tone out from LA County I think is standard in all Motorola consoles, a couple of other agencies on PAWMCo uses it as well, and when Collin County was testing the system I remember them cycling through a bunch of tones on the console including the LA County one, but since it went live Collin County Fire only seems to use the basic tone they've always used.

I have a 436hp that I use in my pickup. I have not updated the database in, probably over a year. But, I have noticed that I am picking up a lot of Dallas PD traffic as well as many of the small communities around Fort Worth. ( I live in South Fort Worth)
For quite a long time I only used the 436hp to listen to Airband and MilAir.
Having read about the new system being brought online, I wondered if I could hear any public service comms with it. I have a SDS100 and a SDS200 that I keep updated. But, since Fort Worth and other communities have gone to using encryption, I haven't heard much public service comms other than the few unencrypted communities around here.
I am wondering if what I have been hearing is temporary until everything is switched over to the new system. I have even heard what sounded like a SWAT team doing a take down. I was driving so I couldn't look to see what agency it was. Maybe it was a practice run.

So what makes you think you are hearing DPD? They are on Dallas Layer 1 and Layer 2 of the NTIRN system. If you have not updated your database in over a year, and have not added those sites, you are not hearing DPD. Those sites were not up until earlier this year.

What Site are you monitoring? I think you have Layer 1 programmed on your 436 and are hearing INTEROP talkgroups, Many agencies, including JOCO use them often for surveillance.

You should expand your listening experience and setup some Favorites utilizing the different sites available on NTIRN. Keep in mind most talkgroups are site specific. They are most often only heard on their home site.

The reason I know ( not necessarily think) I have been hearing DPD is because I have heard officers give a street or freeway name I recognize as being in Dallas. When I have been stationary and heard them, the display will show something like Dallas Police SW division.
I updated the database a few minutes ago using Sentinel. So far, nothing from Dallas or Dallas County being heard. Just Tarrant County. So, maybe it was INTEROP I was hearing. But, not now. Fun while it lasted!
Back to listening to Airband and MilAir for that scanner.
Thanks for your comments.

Just a heads up. They are having some sort of issue with an odd noise keying up the radios, when watching trunker, DFR 1 - 4 or on the new system DFR 1 and 2, EMS 1 and 2, as well as almost all the primary PD channels and a couple of other channels.
So this weird noise will pop up, all these channels will appear ON at the same time and go off at the same time.
Friday night i heard DFR dispatcher tell a field unit that they have submitted a trouble ticket for the issue.
I heard it again this morning. I believe i counted 12 channels keyed up and shut off at the same time.
Ive never seen or heard of something like that before.
Its also caused some new frequencies to be added to my channel list in trunker. Im guessing they have primary ones they use and if there is heavy loading on the radio system these additional channels come online.
I show many channels with almost 10K hits and now i see a handful with between 1 to 100 channel grants.
Also these new channels show first hit as 5/19 or 5/20 and all of them show activity today.
oh i just noticed the new channels with activity are the back up control channels passing voice in phase 2 mode.
773.81875 slot 1 shows 29 hits with first activity on 5/19 and last today at 7:47am.

Any indication DISD, DCCCD would be joining the system? I pass the Dallas Co. schools bus barn on Greenville at Walnut often and am seeing 800 curly antennas on much of their fleet.

Yes. I heard a lot of testing at schools recently.
Thanks for your work deciphering the system. I know so much of the NXDN and Mototrbo stuff used by various services and agencies in Dallas Co. were meant to be radio "band aids" until this or another system was launched. There are still a lot of questions such as will Hospitals move Police & Security onto the system, are we going to see Federal groups added? Is DPS joining? Unfortunately all we can do is search and wait. What's worse is that radio service time does not use the same clock as scanner enthusiast time so we may be here a while waiting on answers.

DPS, including The Attorney Generals office are already using the system. Doubt they will have their own talkgroup, key is to look for the Radio IDs in the 5xxxxxx series. Usually on the DPD encrypted talkgroups.

Same here. I has a long string of them, basically "radio checks" with locations (in a building, unknown address) that appeared to be in a school.

There was one where the unit doing the 'test' indicated that they were on the fourth floor. I have not seen all of the 'Dallas College' locations, but if I remember correctly, they appear to be three stories or less, with the exception, of course, for the downtown 'El Centro'. Offhand, I can't recall any DISD campuses over three stories either.

As these pop up, I'm listening to see if I can catch any more specific location details that might nail down who is using what TGID.

The encrypted DPS as in CLE/Narcotics? or Every damn one of em? Can't see THP encrypting except that its easier for the programmers to drop the key in all DPS radios rather than add a key here and not there. Thanks for the info.

Steve, Yes most DCCCD are 2 to 3 story buildings but that wouldn't affect them if they were on the simulcast towers? I listen to DCCCD Maintenance on their DMR UHF frequency which has a lot of systemwide Police car to car traffic on it. But being legit cops, I figured they would go on the Dallas Co. side of NTIRN. Maybe they are waiting for programming? Back to ya!
