So I am still wanting the SDS 200 and am only waiting because my current location is on Opensky. They are moving away from it this year or next year.
I am slightly worried about increase in costs. What are the chances it is messed up in the tariffs and it increases alot in price?

President Trump just signed a tariff agreement with Vietnam for a 20% tariff.. don't know what products or items are affected. For what it's worth.

There is really no easy way to know the impact of the tariffs. They seem subject to whim and fancy, implementation dates change frequently, etc.

Watch for sales - Main Trading Company in Texas frequently has sales on the SDS200 and 100, for very good prices.

Price Increase on July 13th announced by Zip Scanners. Don't know if this because of tariffs or just a regular price hike.

"The Uniden‑mandated MAP price on the SDS100 and SDS200 jumps $30 on July 13. Every dealer—us included—has to raise the sticker. Lock in the old $649.99 / $699.99 while they last."

The prices ARE going up. I don't know what "Opensky" is but how can it be a location and who or what is moving away?

Sometimes the new system might go to Phase 2 or maybe MOTOTRBO. Any of the modern Uniden scanners that can be upgraded can copy MOTOTRBO, if indeed that is the way your new system will go. Before you plunk down money a little homework is suggested with the scannists in your neck of the woods to see what the new plans will be.

Get it before the price goes up. I listen to more than my home county.

The Pennsylvania State Police used Open Sky or as we called it open scam. It just didn't work with the topography and landscape of Pennsylvania..

The state took a big hit, I don't remember the number but maybe $30 million dollars, one thing about it was no scanner or radio could receive it.

I would think if they are replacing it with a new system it won't be in the clear because they haven't been in the clear as long as they've had Open Sky.

Even though they used Open Sky they were smart enough to maintain their VHF system.

I live near Trevose barracks. They pretty much only used the VHF system.. I guess they were having so many problems with the Open Sky they just simply used the old system.

I grew up in Pennsylvania and used to listen to PSP, Philadelphia,, Haverford, and lots of other police agencies before I moved out in 1970. All open, FM channels.

Might want to make sure the replacement system isn't encrypted before buying the scanner.
Yeah unfortunately the new system will have police and EMS encrypted. The neighboring counties just have police encrypted.

So also waiting and debating if it’ll be worth it, there isn’t anything else to really pick up over here.

No mention of how much but I thought Trump said he agreed on 20% tariff on Vietnam, for what they did to this country I wouldn't even do business with them,....
