Swish, et al:

We've been told that Central is no longer monitoring even primary .190 any longer, and that if we need to do an 800-VHF crosspatch, we have to let DelCo know to start monitoring it again. My question is:

If the .190 repeater is the one they use to alert stations, are they really expecting us to patch an active run onto and across that frequency?

Any thoughts?

My understanding is that the existing VHF repeaters (Tac 1, Tac 2, etc) will be used for fireground patches. 154.190 is only for dispatch paging... supposedly.

The memo we got from DelCo Central said only Tac 4 and Primary were going to be available, and that Tac 1, 2, 3, and 5 were going to be permenantly deactivated...?

I suppose if all they're concerned about is patching for Marion and Morrow counties that's OK. Union County has 800 MHz already. If (and that's a big if) everyone in northern Franklin County who runs M/A into Delaware County has digital-capable radios, shutting off Tac 3 should be OK. But Licking County units don't have 800 MHz radios.

And there is no license for Tac 4 in the FCC database. They appear to be not particularly concerned about having mutual aid communications.

Interoperability appears to be a dirty word in Delaware County...

Seems like it is...Some of the Licking Co stations, particularly Monroe and West Licking, do have 800 radios. But as far as I know, neither them, nor Plain, Westerville, or Mifflin have APCO25 compliant 800 radios, except maybe for a select 1 or 2 reserved for the COST Team. Just wait and see, I guess...

Washington has APCO radios. I know Westerville was planning on getting them, MEC (Plain Twp) has a APCO radio Monroe (904) should have one for monitoring the M/A stuff for Harlem.
