Even though it's the weekend, it has been a busy time on the new system. There has been testing and some open mic transmissions late into the evenings and today too. There have also been at least 2 Control Channel changes. The signal seems to have improved, especially in the areas that have plenty control channel strength but were out of Range and especially on a Unication pager or radio, but I'm sure the scanners too. Maybe the transmitter sites are timed better?

Happy Friday to all, I have a question that may sound silly to you most seasoned radio listeners. Based on the amount of DMR transmissions that may be used on this new system, since I have DMR in my 996 and not my SDS200, would it make sense to program those in my 996 since I monitor both radios as opposed to loading it into the SDS radio. Thanks in advance KGW

The new system is not DMR. The DMR backup is a completely different simulcast system used when the Legacy T band system suffers from Ducting.
Thanks, I had no idea they were even using a backup for the current system. You saved me from a possible useless installation. I had it on my 996 for work and figured if I needed it I'd program it, but now we don't need it. Thanks, my SDS is kicking it then because everything is functioning hear in Prospect Park. Thanks Again!!

Read here. In summary they're used as fallback when tropospheric ducting is an issue on the T-band

Your 996 may suffer the effects of simulcast distortion if you're within range of two or more towers on the simulcast. You can certainly give it a try but don't expect the same results as you'd likely achieve with your SDS

Things are sure quite here
That is a normal part of the process.

I can tell you, as a former IT project manager, that there are hundreds, if not thousands of individual tasks to be performed to produce the end result, which is what you will finally hear.

Configuration and testing may only be a small portion of the process involved, and when you're not hearing much on your scanner, in the background, there are many people performing a boatload of other tasks, in order to produce the finished product.

You also have to take into consideration that there may be delays in receiving equipment, there may be change orders issued and being a governmental agency, sign-offs are required along the way from the end-users, as well as the project managers to ensure that the equipment manufacturers and sellers are meeting their project milestones.

It's analogous to seeing a duck swimming calmly on a lake, but under the water, their webbed feet are paddling like mad in order to produce the movement.

It sounds to me, that things are moving along well...

The digitally modulated general alert tone (as is sounded for street closure notifications) sounds like a steam train whistle over TG-160...CHOO CHOO CHOO! Threw me off for a sec :ROFLMAO:
