when using the grefw program and update firmware 4.4 will be in there

Only if it was previously downloaded.

If you just got the grefw tool it will only download the newest 4.6 firmware. Someone will have to send the 4.5 or previous firmware version for it to work.

well i give up tried everything still don't work will not install the firmware says error

Follow the instructions in post 209 as Most errors are caused by:

1) Failing to follow the instructions line by line

2) Comport driver error ( the fix is to delete and reinstall the driver)

3) Not waiting long enough for the scanner to connect ( wait at least 30 to 60 seconds) just because the computer sees the micro sd card doesn't mean the comport needed to do the firmware update is ready.

4) Bad USB cable.

5) Operator error!!

6) Windows 10 being difficult . You MUST use the procedure to allow unsigned drivers. ( the easiest fix is to find a windows 7 or older pc).

I had the same issue. What worked for me is pulling the batteries out of the radio disconnecting USB. Then re-connect USB. Then start the upgrade tool, go into settings,
Make sure you rescan the connection check all the com ports and select the one that actually shows your radio now you have a baseline connection.

With the scanner connected, go into device manager, under comports it should show your scanner, if "comports" doesn't show up at all in the list then you don't have the driver installed or your USB cable is bad.

If your scanner shows up but you can't set the clock via ezscan then you either have not waited long enough for the scanner to make the "handshake" with windows or the driver is corrupt and you will need to delete it and reinstall it.

Just curious....

Is there a way to revert back to the PSR-800 F/W?

I would imagine a PSR-800 bin file would have to be uploaded?

The file should be in the tool. You need to go to setting set : scanner to psr-800 and firmware to psr-800 then select the psr-800 bin file

I may have missed something, but I am understanding the error message occurs after the attempt to load the firmware occurs? If so, I saw some were trying to load the 4.6 firmware, but the tool is unable to be used to download that version at the moment, so an error message would be correct as it is unable to load 4.6. Then I saw some were mentioning trying to load the 4.4 version of the firmware, not the 4.5 version. When I used the tool, it appeared to download the 4.5 version from Whistler's site, so if they have updated it, the 4.5 version may not be available from them. I do not recall seeing 4.4 as an option to download when I updated mine. It sounds like those who have not upgraded yet, will need to find a source for the 4.5 for now.

The tour will download 4.5
