Having issues with SWEEPER and LIMIT SEARCH. When recording searches the correct mode will be displayed, ie FM. When storing the found frequency the mode is changed to AM. When recording it is recorded in AM mode. Looking at the audio files with the software it also shows AM in the Alpha Tag column.

SWEEPER will stop on a active frequency very briefly, then immediately continue searching with no audio heard.

Pretty sure post 1 is for the 2.4 release. Regardless, between the two posts you'll get the jist of what's going on!

I've found another little oddity as well. When setting up a new conventional DMR channel I set Color/Slot/Group all to any. When it receives traffic it shows me the Slot and Color, but not the talkgroup. Is this tied to the conventional Line 3 display settings? I'm guessing it is...

Update: So it is! Changing the line 3 display mode will alternate TG and alpha tag. Would be nice if it could do this automatically if the group # isn't stored/wildcard and the display mode is set to only alpha tag, but so be it...

So if i put all the known DMR frequencies in my area in as conventional and left slot, colour and TG blank it would receive any DMR transmission.Whereas if i configure slot, colour and known TG's for theses frequencies the scanner would not receive unknown transmissions.

The more specific the parameters that you apply to any object, the less you'll hear. Each parameter further filters the matches to more and more specific and limited things.

For example - if you set the object to DMR and there is analog voice on that frequency, you won't hear that activity.

Each of us has different needs but where possible (I know the TGID and/or the users are limited), I'd leave SLOT and COLOR set to any. COLOR is useful when you have two different systems/users using the same frequency in close proximity. For example, I have two different users of a frequency near me that use the same frequency but I can tell they are different for various reasons -- the easiest one to use to filter/separate them is the fact that one uses COLOR 7 and the other is using COLOR 11. They use vastly different TGIDs and RADIO IDs but those are harder to use to separate things - particularly when doing searches/wildcarding for new TG and/or system activity.

Correct, gordonbrittas. That's why I advocate the keep it simple programming philosophy. Enter just the bare minimum, and go from there once you have problems.

In addition to what TroyMail said, the more data programmed and the more entries (i.e. if you have 10 different TGs for the same frequency), the slower the scanner will work. If it is checking for an entire frequency once instead of a specific group of a frequency 10 time, it would more rapidly acquire voice traffic. I assume, on the margin, additional data for the radio CPU to process slows things down too.

So with whistler saying the 10 range of scanners are running low on memory is the DMR update likely to be the last update available for these scanners?

Other than bug fixes I wouldn't think so, for new features they will want everyone to purchase the TRX range.

Bug Report

Did anyone report the Conventional DMR issue, where if you set it to TIME SLOT "ANY", you don't receive any traffic on TIME SLOT 2? I mean nothing at all on TIME SLOT 2. Needs to be acknowledged and addressed.

I sure hope they fix this bug soon. I really want to hear all the conventional DMR traffic on both time slots.

Other than that, it sounds great with AGC on. Best DMR I ever heard from any radio...commercial or otherwise.
