• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

But, To clear things up. I was 13 at the time with zero knowledge at all on radios and got into CTRS and other radio servers and was told to go to radio reference and there would possibly be someone willing to help and give me a radio. Since then I've boughten many XTS5000's and am Currently using them as scanners for LEO/Fire/ ETC with zero problems. Sorry for all the folks didnt reply too and i'm not a troll. I can see how I would look like one but I understand a lot more now. Thank you guys for the help!

Depending on the vintage/age of the radio, the compatible computer may be more challenging than the software or the cables.

You obviously know next to nothing about commercial radios and how the world works. Nobody is going to just give you a radio because you're begging for one. At least, not one that works. Since you're unable to provide any relevant information about the system you want to listen to, you're also preventing people from making an appropriate scanner recommendation.

Also, I'm pretty sure you were banned from CTRS for reasons similar to this thread.

And from your avatar it appears you're a plastic soldier(?).
I'll give him credit for holding the radio in a pose that suggests he's actually using it. That's different from just lining up your radios on a table so you can admire them.

On a sidenote, I was like 14 when I migrated from ham/CB to commercial radios. A lot different then though.
I was more into hardware, most radios had chrytal control. I was well into commercial when radio and embedded control were married.
DSP was theories at a few universities.
For the OP though, a LOT has changed, Radio CPUs are now mostly32 bit multi core, On board hardware DSP, several link layer digital modes,
Trunking, encryption, all fairly new.
It took me all these years, reading studying, trying to stay on top of fast paced technology and computers.
Like a VW trying to catch a supersonic jet.
