With inclement weather moving through a lot of the northeast over the next few days, it will be interesting to see if these sightings diminish. In other words, would-be sighters can't see the planes that they think are drones due to the low ceiling and reduced visibility.

The nights it rained I saw none at this QTH. The cloud cover could be why none were seen though.

Would bet if all the "Me To" people would use the AR button on their Flightaware app, there would less reports. Not saying these large drones are not there, but many clueless people posting pics daily on fakebook is ridiculous when none of their pics resemble anything like the large drones reported.

I heard multiple departments are monitoring these unidentified drones and I thought it would be fun to to monitor this activity but haven't heard anything so far on the common State PD talkgroups. Perhaps there are also some milAir frequencies active for "drone hunters/investigationa"? I'd think this entire situation would be a hobbyist's dream, yet I am hearing no activity for this.

NJSP Aviation units have gone to an encrypted talk group shortly after this drone situation started. I have heard no other activity on NJICS. NYPD SOD has been sending their aviation units to 10-10 investigate report of drones all over New York City most clear evenings. Most of the drone activity is coming from people misidentifying aircraft and helicopters.

My conclusion is leaning towards the 80/20 rule.

At this point 80 percent all junk calls and misinformation. Buried in the hysteria
is 20 percent reality.

And it is real, very real. Speculation of course. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I've monitored and recorded 3 days worth of comms on 121.500 MHz; nothing reported of drones, but did hear pilots seeing the starlink sats, meteor showers, and other aircraft in the distance. Did hear one pilot say he did see aliens. lol!

I was monitoring JFK Tower and I heard a pilot on approach report his proximity alarm go off And he took immediate emergency climb to avoid whatever the system showed however the tower and the pilot had no visual of any object.

The way I read this, you both are referencing 2 different "events". and since no federal agency has confirmed why these NJ Drones have appeared, the original story cannot be considered BS, until it is proven wrong.
