Advanced decoder options:

Could someone please explain what the Advance Decoder Options do?

Advanced decoder options:
-dr<num> Rolloff filter (1-5; 0=auto) [-dr0]
-dh<num> Hotspot size (1-8; 0=auto) [-dh0]
-ds<num> Scaling factor (50-80; not used with D-Star or ProVoice) [-ds64]
-dd<num> Damping level (1-100; not used with D-Star or ProVoice) [-dd10]
-dv<num> Viewport size (1-30; not used with D-Star or ProVoice) [-dv20]

I think I know what a roll-off filter does but, roll-off of what? Input or output and is it rolling off high end or low end? Is being done digitally or in the analog domain?

Hot spot, scaling factor, damping and view port I have no idea.

Hello, Thanks for DSD 1052 + event log that works really well with RTLSHARP DTS. One question: Do you plan to add the dPMR446 mode (phase 1 dPMR: a derivative of Idas and NXDN 6.25)? on my side, I did several tests with Icom posts dPMR446 version unlicensed 0.5W (a very standard used in Europe) and unfortunately it does not work with DSD + (with -fm option was only dPMR information at the bottom of the screen but no sound: what seems normal to date). At home, we use the dPMR and dPMR446 but almost never Idas and some NXDN. Nevertheless no problem with the decoding of dPMR version of the radio repeater on professional version without encryption.Currently, we have a ham radio relay in the standard Fusion Yaesu just started but are not yet able to decode DSD +. My friends from my earphone radio club are also in search of a program to receive and decode Tetra because many networks are now in the standard (buses, sports stadium, bussiness, gardiennages, etc). To the authorities and firefighters, ca seems very complicated because they have long been TETRAPOL. In summary, it would be great to decode the sound of dPMR446 and Fusion ... and better with the public Tetra more. Thank you for your work on your software decoding. 73's Pascal

Pascal,

Something to keep in mind -- the author of DSDPlus seems to be quite ambitious when it comes to supported modes. However, usually raw audio samples are required. If you can gather a bunch of raw audio samples in the right format, upload them to a site, and provide a link to the raw audio, then I imagine DSDAuthor would probably download the raw audio files and possibly attempt to support dPMR. However, without audio samples I would say there is a very low likelihood of it ever being supported unless DSDAuthor has some local dPMR like those which you want to monitor [and I doubt he/she does].

As has been stated, basic questions about how to run DOS or command line programs is off topic for this thread. Please create your own thread or ask in the Computer forum in the Tavern.

This thread is specific to questions about the operation or development of DSD+. This is the last time we warn in this thread before we start deleting posts. People come to this thread for information about DSD, not basic computer education. Being this is a Sticky thread and past several pages we are being strict about the format.

On a happier note: finally got a tapped radio to be able to use DSD+ consistently. Very impressed! I did notice an occasional issue where the CC info or GID on DMR was slow to update. Possibly a signal issue.

You will enjoy the program, it is a good one

I have re-read this thread in its entirety and I still have questions.

1) I loaded frequency information on a local TRBO repeater into the DSDPlus.frequencies file:
DMR, 123, 1, 1, 453.70000, 458.70000, 1

The repeater I am monitoring indicates only frequency 1 when transmitting. However, the DMR Channel Activity window never fills in the frequency, although it does show the talkgroup and source unit information.

2) How do I tell DSDPlus about talkgroups and radio IDs so it can display info like was shown in the screenshots when the new release was announced? Is that the .srt file that is, AFAIK, still disabled?

Radio aliases are currently only shown on Nexedge systems as they are transmitted over the air. There currently isn't any provision to tag talkgroups or RID's on other protocols...

Thanks, Forts.

Wayne, I'm not aware of anything beyond what has been stated in this thread. I don't really know all about what the program should or should not be able to do because there is little authoritative documentation yet.

I actually edited the aliases file and thought it would show the ID aliases that I want. When a broadcast first starts it will show what I edited (officer name) for a brief second and then change to the broadcast RID (officer number)

It helps optimize the audio from the data-stream for your listening pleasure.
Use the following program with a 'Raw' audio capture from DSD+, 30-60 seconds worth, and it will provide the optimal numbers to use for the options.
https://github.com/dreinhold/dsdtune/releases/tag/v0.0.4

You can do this manually, but the DSD Tune program can do it much quicker.

Once you have your numbers for the options, you would want to make start-up batch files for type of audio you are decoding (ex P25.bat, TRBO.bat, Provoice.bat, etc...) This would then give you good sounding audio.

dsdtune is not working with the latest dsd+. It does just hang.

I have been trying to get some time to fix it.
I just moved to a new house yesterday. Its going to take me a few days then I should be able to post the new version.

deboe,

Thank you for the information regarding the dsdtune hanging issue.

Will you post back here once you have dsdtune updated and posted?

Hi All,

I'm running DSD on our Hytera based system. I tried to use LRRP to see our radio's locations but I don't see anything on the map nor LRRP entries in the log. Is DSD only able to decode Motorola location messages? Our channel is encrypted, could that cause LRRP entries to not appear?

Thanks, Chris

I second this. I have a business I listen to frequently that also uses Hytera gear. No encryption to my knowledge at all. Id love to see the text message and GPS data displayed as well. I can try to get a good raw stream recording for this as well. They have one "channel" that is a constant data stream when they're open and I know it's the GPS and possibly registration data. I haven't really ever done or needed a raw data stream file so let me figure that out and I'll submit somewhere if possible.

EDIT: got a few streams. I can upload them to any location or I have and FTP I can drop them in and they can be grabbed.

TNX n4yek,

I will give this program a try.

How long does this take to run? I have tried it on two different computers and it seems to just hangs here:

Running dsd < DSDPlus-Raw-Input_2014-11-02@093636.wav -o0 -O NUL -f1 -drXXX
From the latest DSD+ -h output:
Code:
Usage:
DSDPlus [options] Decode from audio stream
DSDPlus [options] ? file Decode from .wav file
  DSDPlus -h Show help

slicerwizard,

My question regarding the program hanging was not in reference to DSD+ proper. I know the proper syntax for the DSD+ command line and I am familiar with the -h switch and have used it. My original question in this thread involved how to determine the correct value for each advanced decoder option. User n4yek was kind enough to direct me to dsdtune.

The dsdtune program was hanging when I tried to run it. This was addressed user by deboe, who I believe is the author of the DSDtune software, see below:

I am patiently waiting for deboe to find time to address the issues in the dsdtune program.

You apparently are not familiar with dsdtune and mistakenly thought DSD+ was hanging. Next time read and understand the flow of subject matter in the thread before offering advice. Thanks for the off-base RTFM advice.

I was not aware that DSD Tune had a problem with DSDPlus. I used it on the original DSD programs and have not used it since.
Being that it is looking at recorded raw audio, i thought it would be fine, guess I was wrong. deboe is the author and as he stated, he will have to get it going. It is a great little program that he created so the wait will be worth it.
