how do you enable the packet data ?

In addition to what @mtindor said,

DSDPlus notes.txt said;
Added raw decoding of P25 packet data calls. These are normally found on P25 trunking systems.

Use the Data Calls priority settings in the DSD+ Control menu to enable or disable
auto- tuning / trunk following of P25 data calls.

These calls typically occur on dedicated channels; you may also manually park a receiver
on one of these channels.

Raw P25 packet data messages are written to a text file
named [mode-]DSDPlus[#modifier].packetData; each data block in a message is written
to a separate text line as hexadecimal byte values and ASCII text strings.

Raw P25 packet data messages are also written to a text file
named [mode-]DSDPlus[#modifier].packetData2; each complete data message is written
to a single separate text line as hexadecimal byte values. The message data in this file
can be sorted on any message byte offset by the Windows SORT command for analysis purposes.

Raw P25 packet data messages are also displayed in the DSD+ Packet Data window.
This scrollable window can buffer/display up to 500,000 lines of data.
P25 packet data is only buffered for this window when the window is open;
each time the window is closed/reopened, it will start with a blank display / no data.

A common packet data message type sent on P25 trunking systems is
ESP (Encapsulating Security Payload); these are encrypted and not decodable.
By examining the ASCII text displayed in the .PacketData file and the Packet Data window,
you may find TMS (Text Messaging Service) payloads.
Another common message is ACK responses; these are endpoints confirming that an entire
packet data message was received and decoded correctly.

Ok, but, there were no active calls going on at the time, and there is no record of a radio 50410 in Dsdplus radio file or in Unitrunker which was also logging all morning.
The controller responded with a busy message, so the RID would not have been logged because it was not "seen" as having used the system.

Just one question, how do you enable the packet data ? the window comes up but never populates.
The packet data window only applies to P25 at this time. And even with that, it is possible that the P25 trunked or conventional system that you are monitoring isn't sending out anything relevant to put in the packet window.

Mike

One additional thing to point out, on some systems, like the county system where I am, the system assigns all data calls to a particular frequency (which rotates at random) and you won't get packet data on normal voice channels. It almost appears as a silent control channel with continuous carrier but no sound.

I wish that were the case with Ohio MARCS and AEP P25, both of which seem to have data calls on different freqs throughout the day, with data call channel rotation mimicking voice call channel rotation.

Seen that and think your spectrum frequency is set on a voice channel rather than control channel.
I have also seen encrypted calls lose the control channel, until that last active voice channel becomes active again.
Read my question properly, it suppose to be on a voice channel. When the call is complete is should go idle (empty screen) but sometimes it doesn't and becomes stuck on the frequency even though the transmission is over.

Been getting that error also after going from 2.395 to 2.441, don't know if it happened during the LRRP_Control or if it just happened to occur at the same time, system was rebooted after the upgrade to 2.441 before it was started for the first time --

I have't seen any data calls on my ICAWIN sites. I keep the panel closed now.

For the most part, you won't see much even if they are using it, the info is typically encrypted and other than limited info clear text like RID/UID it doesn't mean much.

Your spectrum window should show your CC in the highlight. If it is gone, it is the typical 'lost CC' thing. Just have patience.
Usually before I can enter the CC frequency in the spectrum window, the CC becomes found and runs.

Only errors I get now are bad info in the frequencies file. Mostly applies to TIII, NXDN and CAP+ sites.

Anyone ever play with that DSD+UI, in my case, DSD+.exe enters but any of the FMPxx gives a bad version error.

To be expected. You have to fix what is broken. It is less tolerant of our mistakes now. This was pointed out in the TXT file released with the update.
Yea, I have scrutinized the formatting of a frequency entry and tried a number of different things.
IE: a system ID like 'H1' it just doesn't like.
A CAP+ site there is no system ID to enter and doen't like blank holes.
DSD+ still works though, and I tolerate the startup 'commands no longer used, Use Meues'
I guess a simpler 1R.bat would solve that.

Haven't received that crash at all while monitoring a site of the Maryland FIRST system, no LRRP_Control activity on the site

I emailed the author. He has an idea what is going on. He suggested not to do data call following. Of course, in the menu you need to have voice/data following enabled to follow voice. But I specifically had CONTROL --> Call Priorities --> Data Calls: High Priority set. I changed it to L/O. Haven't had an issue since. Fluke? Maybe.

At any rate, I'm sure it'll be taken care of in a future version.

Change Log
----------

DSD+ 2.441

Some command line options and keyboard commands have been removed.
DSDPlus -h lists all command line options and keyboard commands.

The size of the text in the various DSD+ windows is controlled via the DSD+ Window menu.

To change the size of the various DSD+ windows, left-drag the double-ended arrow that
appears when you move the mouse pointer to a DSD+ window's lower right corner.
Note that the DSD+ Channel Activity window is auto-sizing; the only way to manually
adjust its size is to modify the size of the text that it displays.

Handling/parsing of data files (DSDPlus.networks, .sites, .frequencies, etc.) has been
modified; if DSD+ reports errors in files, inspect the indicated lines carefully.

Added decoding / trunk tracking of TIII Broadcast Talkgroup calls.

Additional DMR GPS/AVL location messages are now decoded.

Better handling of neighbor lists that have multiple/duplicate references to a given site.

Added handling of NXDN repeaters that send malformed SACCH messages.

Improved handling of P25 TDULC messages.

Added decoding of Harris P25 Talker Alias messages.
Decoded subscriber radio aliases are added to radio entries in the DSDPlus.radios file.

Added decoding of Harris P25 GPS/AVL messages.

Added decoding of conventional P25 GPS/AVL messages.

Raw P25 packet data messages are also written to a text file
named [mode-]DSDPlus[#modifier].packetData2; each complete data message is written
to a single separate text line as hexadecimal byte values. The message data in this file
can be sorted on any message byte offset by the Windows SORT command for analysis purposes.

Raw P25 packet data messages are also displayed in the DSD+ Packet Data window.
This scrollable window can buffer/display up to 500,000 lines of data.

Hello Dave.
Sorry for the message here. I am Brazilian and I am a little confused by procedures in English and I would like to know if you can help me.
I sent 25 dollars through Paypal to Fastlane and later forwarded the payment confirmation email to the same email address that I made the transfer.
Do you know if I proceeded correctly? If so, how long before they send the program?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Have a great week!!
