DTV Signals always have most of the sound on the right channel?

Just a thought....

.... Being that RTN features classic shows before stereo was common on TV audio, I would think the program audio would be monaural. Only actual current ads would be in stereo.

Update:

Update: It's doing it only on RTN 6.2 now, and 6.1 and 6.3 is sounding completely normal now.

Though on 6.2 even commercials are sound to the right.

I guess that would make sense... Why have stereo for the current ads if none of the programming and retro ads are monaural?

Unfortunately, RTN doesn't have an outlet in SE VA; I do watch it in my truck when I'm in the Raleigh and DC areas. I hope one of the stations here picks RTN up.

Question for you Red: Does the network have children's programming? I ask because the stations (except the PBS outlet) here are afraid to add multicast programming because of a supposed FCC rule that says stations must have 3 hours of children's programming on EACH DATA STREAM. If RTN does then I may have hope one the stations here will carry the network.

In this area there was one station that had local weather; two others had weather radar. Over 1 year ago, in fast order all 3 stations dropped their wx program streams because of that ruling. What I find interesting is if that's the case, why is there at least one station in every nearby TV market (Richmond, Charlottesville VA, DC, Salisbury MD, Greenville, Raleigh, Greensboro NC have news and/or weather programming on one of its streams?

Well....

Well they seem to have at least 3 hours of children's programming, though only Saturday morning.

I never heard of anything like that before.

Though, I have no children, so I probably wouldn't have paid much attention, even if I did see it one time.

Anyway, hopefully you do get an RTN.

RTN is nice, though what I really wish would come along nationally is, MeTV and MeToo in Chicago.

They have non-stop classic TV, way better than TVLand now of days. It's like how TVLand used to be, with their marathons and stuff.

MeTVChicago.Com

I would so want an internet stream, because that station would be so nice, because often I'm up late at night, when RTN just shows 5-6 hours of paid programming.

One other DTV issue....

The other issue that I have with 6.2 or RTN, is that I guess at random times when the signal gets bad yet is good again, I get what I believe they call, "pixelization" or where you see little squares in a random part of the screen and the audio freezes.

It's seems to be very similar what you can get when converting videos on the computer.

Can getting a better antenna fix this?

All I can use is an indoor, I am not permitted to install roof antennas and other outdoor antennas.

EDIT: The transmitter at the most is about 3.5 miles away at 1mW.

Also, when recording with a TV Tuner card, it seems like ATSC has A/V lip sync issues at times, yet other times, no problems at all.

It's happening on your station's other streams too. Yes! A better antenna would help.

The transmitter at the most is about 3.5 miles away at 1mW.

I'm sure you mean MW (megawatt) rather you mean mW (milliwatt). You should have no/little problem at all. Keep in mind multipath and other obstructions can make things difficult. Mountains, buildings, trees, and yes PEOPLE in front of your antenna will cause signal degradation. I'm guessing at 3.5 miles away you may see the tower out your window, assuming no obtructions, which in Johnstown I'm guessing is not easy.

Also, when recording with a TV Tuner card, it seems like ATSC has A/V lip sync issues at times, yet other times, no problems at all.

It also happens with analog TV occaisionally. Someone eithers calls the station or the person at master control sees the lip synch is off and corrects it.

ONE MORE TIME.

It can not be an antenna, multipath, or other "RF Signal" problem.

If you are decoding the digital steam well enough to get audio, then the level and phase and channel position of the audio CAN NOT be related to an RF Signal problem.
