Hey trip, could this be a chp link? With 700mhz extenders, maybe they have access to the system.

I am curious to the status of Bekeley FD. Are they joining EBRCS, keeping the current system or ? I did a little searching and have not found much, so if I missed it my apologies.

If the are joining EBRCS, what is the rough cutover date?

Berkeley is joining EBRCS. They are part of ALCO Northwest with a cutover target of September 2012.

Thank you for the information on BFD. Do you know what is going to happen to the existing VHF system that is currently in place for BFD?

Many agencies are abandoning their conventional systems. One of the drivers for migrating onto EBRCS by the end of the year is narrowbanding, which will be required for VHF and UHF users and would need to be completed by January 1, 2013. By migrating onto the EBRCS system before this date, VHF and UHF system owners avoid the cost of reprogramming their conventional systems for narrowband operation.

I have heard of this as well, and also have seen/heard some keep the original system inplace. They kept it as a fall back and in addition even tied the legacy channel into the new system for mutual aid responders without the new radios. Just curious if anybody here knew what BFD was planning on doing once the kinks were worked out of the new system and they were online with the new digital system.

I dunno, I doubt it. The radio traffic really sounded like it was between two individuals driving, so being on the extenders wouldn't make too much sense. I have seen no further affiliation from TG 1007

4256057 TG: 1007 DT: 6/7/12@9:04
4256073 TG: 1007 DT: 6/10/12@9:34
4182009 TG: 1007 DT: 6/10/12@8:12
4182007 TG: 1007 DT: 6/10/12@8:11
4169063 TG: 1007 DT: 6/10/12@7:55
4256021 TG: 1007 DT: 6/10/12@7:55
4169027 TG: 1007 DT: 6/10/12@7:47
4169055 TG: 1007 DT: 6/10/12@7:47
4169112 TG: 1007 DT: 6/10/12@6:42
4182026 TG: 1007 DT: 6/10/12@11:12
4256050 TG: 1007 DT: 6/10/12@10:35
3189001 TG: 1007 DT: 3/7/12@15:27
4077001 TG: 1007 DT: 3/1/12@9:51
1 TG: 1007 DT: 3/1/12@9:32

Here's what Pro96com has in its logs for 1007 - hits seems to come from a large number of RadioID prefixes, including 407 (CoCoSD), 416, 418, 425, 403. The Radio IDs are unique to TG 1007 - I don't have them logged on any other TGs. Curiously, Radio ID 1 I have logged onto 1007 back in March. Perhaps 1007 is related to the techs??

In a related note, my second Pro 197 arrived today and is all set up. This means I'll be able to dedicate one of the 197s to Pro96com logging full time...

Can't speak for BFD, but Richmond PD has deactivated their patch and talkgroup on the old EDACS system. RPD doesn't appear the least bit interested in keeping the legacy channel active... anecdotal, at best, I realize.

Well what I'm getting at with the extender theory is there might be a TG on EBRCS used by CHP for mutual aid purposes. What thinking is was possible they were chit chatting on it since the locations they were talking about weren't making sense.

On a side note, im working on getting an actual TG list

Confirmed TGID 7712 will be CCC SO Central. Heard radio techs just now stating he was testing a batch of SO radios talking to his buddy... stating they were both going to switch over to CCSO Central which is... 7712 !

Adjacent TG in my affiliation log is 7715 - could be presumed to be CCC SO East... nothing confirmed yet on this one.

Other chatter included blaming the natural (crappy) digital audio quality on dispatchers talking too fast!

Lots of chatter now on 7712 from the techs regarding voice quality...some system details, too...

And I assume this was on the CCCO Central simulcast site?

I'm hearing activity for the first time. TG 7505, Richmond PD, on CCCO East simulcast.

Audio excellent in Manteca.

Also, as another update... The CC West Simulcast dips down nicely from the Cummings site into Martinez. I heard the techs mention this today during their chatter. I am now picking up CC West perfectly with a 800 MHz INDOOR antenna, so folks in the Concord/Martinez area wishing to hear the West simulcast should be able to do so.

I hadn't tried to hear CC West before, but you can imagine my delight that I am now able to hear Central & West simulcasts perfectly from my location!

Regarding RPD on the Central Simulcast - the techs were talking, as I mentioned above, on TG 7712, (one of them was located in Martinez). They were discussing the voice quality of Richmond Dispatch... anyway, he says "I've got a base radio here in my office with a mag mount antenna sitting by the window... Cummings drops down here fairly well..." - so they all proceeded to switch to 7505 to listen to RPD. I'd have to guess his radio affiliated with 7505 and is probably still sitting there on the desk affiliated with 7505! Don't know how long it'll stay there. They did also mention that in the system setup, there is a "County Wide" setting for talkgroups. This is why CoCoSO West is on all three. They may have set the RPD talkgroup to County Wide for their own monitoring purposes...?

All this is pretty much what led me to try to pick up CCC West from my location (Martinez)... :)

Edit: pics or it didn't happen!

Well that might explain why I'm hearing Richmond on the CCCO east site then.

Not hearing the S/O on CCCO East however. Yet.

That's interesting. The "county-wide" term was their words, not mine. I mean, obviously they can route the TG wherever they want...

Are you going to add 7712 CoCoSO Central to the DB?

Generally TG's are assigned to specific sites to limit usage at a site where they don't belong. It's not necessarily something you can change easily as it requires access to the system database. So my assumption is it's permitted at all the COCO Sites by default right now.

TG access usually gets tweaked as the system progresses. If the system has its TG's created properly there should be common TG's that will work network or County-wide and wouldn't be agency specific. This allows agencies to be stuck on certain sites and when they roam out of their area can switch to a County-wide or whatever TG.
