What I believe is happening on the new systems such as Dinwiddie and Lunenburg counties is the encryption is on the control frequencies NOT the talk groups. Therefore, when looking at the talk groups on the ARC500 screen, they don't show up as encrypted because they whole system is. Kinda sneaky if you ask me !!!
Dinwiddie and Lunenburg are not encrypted and only thing is CC going TDMA not encrypted. I was told this when asked about encryption.

Link layer encryption (LLE), or the encryption of the control channel has not yet been implemented into the P25 standard, thus no vendors offer it currently (to my knowledge). As far as I know, Dinwiddie will not transition to a TDMA control channel, since that's not a feature that MSI (their system's vendor) offers. Lunenburg operates on a L3Harris system, who does offer TDMA control channels.

I'm not at all familiar with the Whistler line of products, but you'll need a P25 Phase II/TDMA capable radio to be able to receive TDMA talkgroups on any system. Currently, there are no scanners (with the exception of SDR tuners/software) capable of decoding a TDMA control channel, so you'll be out of luck if any of your local L3Harris systems deploy one.

Ok, I must clearly be doing something wrong. Bought the SDS100...used the new software to program it. STILL CAN'T HERE DINWIDDIE or LUNENBERG!! Now, complete disclosure: I am outside of both counties site maps but just barely. I live in Alberta. What am I missing in my programming
