• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

eVerge DMR radios released! I can hardly contain myself. How about you?

Looking to purchase a VERTEX EVX-534 eVerge 5W 512CH VHF, Can anyone give some input? Cheapest prices? Is this mototrbo capable? Thanks!

The lowest price I've seen on the 534 is about $350, new with battery, antenna and charger
Incidentally, the lowest price I've seen on the vx-720 is about $100 more and the evx-539 is about $30 more (with batt, ant, charger)

They're DMR radios so they are compatible with Motorola MotoTRBO and Hytera DMR in conventional mode.

Hope that helps.

Where's the best place to shop? I've had no luck on eBay.

I would start with trying local dealers. Call around.
It is usually easier to deal locally.

I don't know how many you are wanting to buy or if this for hobby/ham use or for commercial use but if it's for hobby/ham use, I'd also contact a reputable ham dealer like Ham Radio Outlet. They're dealers for the whole Vertex line. They may not be the cheapest but in the past they have *sometimes* matched online prices for me.

It's def. for hobby use. Mostly to be programmed as Rx Only for some local public safety agencies.

Dang! I guess that's the new price to beat.
Please let us know what you think of it if/when you get it.

I'd be curious to know what that same seller wants for a vxd-720. If it's <$100 more, I think I'd rather have that. (But that's me)

That as before I realized, most place could offer a VHF version of the same radio. That's why I said I wasnt having any luck. So far, $359 is best I've found.

Does that include shipping? What are your plans for programming?

It's free shipping on ebay, the unit comes with the cable and the link to download software. I've got contacts that'll do the programming for me.

I've contacted a couple of the dealers by phone. That's how I got a price lower.

I clicked that link and I did not see any 539s on ebay for $359.
The lowest price I saw was for $379 (which is dead on with what I posted in reply number 43 )
And that seller had "0" feedbacks.

Yep, and today all I see is $409. Things change. . . . Regarding feedback, everyone starts at "0" . . .

I had to see that to believe it.
I see everge radios advertised on Amazon from a 3rd party seller (the same guy selling them on Ebay with 0 feedbacks) but Amazon doesn't "have them". You cannot buy them on Amazon. Yet.

Regarding feedback, everyone starts at "0" . . .

That seller has been selling them on Ebay for while. They're the one with the gallery images that say "call or txt xxx-xxx-xxxx" and was the first one on ebay to offer them. They used to have feedback and now they don't. That's kind of a red flag to me.

The EVX series 403-470 are generally not stocked, but can be ordered in a few days. The 450-512 and the VHF 136-174 units are plenty stocked.

The VXD series will likely be cancelled in 2014 so get them while you can.
