• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

eVerge DMR radios released! I can hardly contain myself. How about you?

Have you had a chance to use the radio? What can you tell me about it? By CPS do you mean software and cable? How hard is the software to figure out?

I'm very happy with both units especially for the price. I would 100% recommend upgrading the batteries to higher capacity or purchasing a back up battery. The programming software is pretty easy to use even for someone with little to no experience programming. Its defiantly different then Motorola software, but I think easier to use. I'm using the OEM kit which requires a interface (similar to a rib box) and cable. I did a side by side test for each band against my XPR6550's and I wouldn't see any difference. I also ordered the Universal batter and charger option called the UNI which is a very cool concept. Give them a call and they will even through in the programming software and updated firmware for free if you ask nicely. Good Luck!

You need a CT-106 and the FIF-12 USB Programming Interface to read & write to the EVX-530 devices.

Go to the following site and request a non dealer account. You will get access to all software and firmware updates, for free.

https://businessonline.vertexstandard.com

I, too, also have the larger batteries. While I appreciate the extra power in hind site I would rather have two regular size batteries as they are significantly smaller and make the radio much thinner, that said I only use my radios on-site and it would be no big deal to go back to the office and switch batteries.

You need a CT-106 and the FIF-12 USB Programming Interface to read & write to the EVX-530 devices.

I have been successful with the cheaper USB CT-106 cable you can buy from other retailers online, however others have not. So your mileage may vary. That said I now have the the combination you listed above and get faster read and write time and the connection is more reliable. That said it is $60 more, on average, than the USB cable alone.

This is certainly great news as the street price on the basic models is said to be sub $300. This means DMR gear at analog prices, which will also bring down the (IMO) overpriced used market. I can't believe these morons on brokenstolenradios.com aka Ebay pay upwards of $400 for used, out of warranty questionable history DMR radios when NEW ones can be had for $500.

Heck, even Ham Radio Outlet has Vertex VXD-720 portables and VXD-7200 mobiles on their site at $499. These are nothing but re-baged XPR's. Why some stupid mouth breathers pay that much for used junk off Ebay is beyond me. Hopefully the eVerge series will bring down these inflated prices.

It certainly means more people will be going digit-ALL!

Now there inflating the price on the EVX-539's up to $415.00 That's not right! I see it on other outlets for $450.00 even $500.00 , for that price buy a True Motorola radio. I got a evx-539 for $350.00 on ebay brand new in the box. I will post an update to see how good it works on the DMR-MARC network.

Whomever you purchased your unit for $350 on eBay from (I was unable to find anyone less then $409) will certainly not be around long selling at that price with crazy eBay fees built in.

Amused to watch the race to the bottom all these dealers are chasing.

FWIW, expect to see dozens of new DMR radios on the market come IWCE time in March. The second tier models will flood the the DMR market. Certainly interesting times.

Anybody know if the MH-45B4B noise cancelling mic works with the eVerge series? This is listed as an accessory for the VX-230 series, but not the eVerge. The other VX-230 mics apparently are compatible with the eVerge.

I'd be using the eVerge in an ultra high noise environment, and need a good mic.

I actually got a timely response from V-S! Yes, it is compatible.

Now, to get my hands on one and test it. Currently trying an Impact mic.

Hello, I have an EVX-539 VHF.

I have the proper cable (CT-106 FIF-12A)

I am trying to read the radio.
Radio>upload = port open error?

I have switched to various ports and continue to get the "port open error"

I am trying to use port 9 as it seems the program wants port 9.

Why and i getting " port open error"?

I occasionally get that error. I just restart and it typically clears the error. Assuming you've tried that have you opened device manager and verified that the vertex usb device is using port 9? If it is using a different port you can change the software preference to point to the other port. If you have also done that it would be helpful if you post what version of windows and what version of software you are using for further troubleshooting.

Reading DR radio

The best way to check the USB port is to open the device manager and look under Ports. The number varies depending on how many other devices you have using USB.

Generally speaking the 530 series will let you write a file set up for a lower model to a higher model, but not the other way around. Under preferences make sure the file you are writing is setup for the 539 model.

I would also try reading from the radio first, then edit that file and write to the radio.
