How far away can u hear ? Like can u hear stuff more than 1 County away. Past line of site?

I can pretty much hear one parish (county) over from me and maybe a little bit more (I have a discone in the attic). So, in Ascension Parish where I am, I can also hear East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, Livingston, Iberville and St. James. Maybe even St. John the Baptist sometimes. It's pretty flat around here as well, so that helps.

Seems whatever the system is , is similar to some of the systems here in utah. Which rents their systems to users for a fee

That's a good question! I've never tried to submit anything to the RR database before!

I'm a global admin and have the ability to work any submission, but the policy is to give local admins a week to work them first. You should have your friend make a normal submission, providing as much information as possible to help resolve the SysID conflict.

It is BEARCOM. Bearcom has acquired the license for several radio service outfits in the past few years. The people that had smartcom-d are no longer and if you look you'll see the frequencies have been acquired by BEARCOM. NET 176 was (or is) the attempt at a statewide DMR system with the various Moto dealers. Shreveport Comms and Telcom still have sites up that are connect systems with system ID of 176. At least they did. DB still shows a site in Monroe and maybe Shreveport. Telcom has a site or two still up in S.W. La (Calcasieau) and maybe Allen parish. I know Lafayette had a site on the NET 176 system. Still might. Haven't been over there in awhile. After IDA, some of the less (or non) profitable stuff stayed down. I've been checking around S.E. La trying to verify what is still up and what has changed. I read on the Miss forum that the operator for NET 175 (COMSOUTH) has turned a number of there sites off. Declining subscribers. The NET 176 sites in St Tammany and N.O. are still up for now. Laplace too.

So there is at least 11 sites on the system, those other systems have got to be consolidated into one system that works together. And if its a statewide system its got to have multiple sites , at least 1 per Parrish or area. If u can hear other areas , see if other sites can be heard..

If its consolidated into one system there would be less confusion, and would be able to get the talkgroups all in one page

Thanks for the info! So I'm wondering how this system should be listed in the RR database. As a statewide system called Bearcom?
