Bad thing is this smartcomm system doesn't seem to have fcc licenses for that system on any site, but I'll keep checking

Also while your analyzing it u may need to see if other frequencies are giving u NT 176 Site 11 (or others) cuz it seems it has LCN (logical channel numbers) we may need to use lcn finder on the 536hp to find the lcns to track this system

This is where dsdplus would be nice, it would also locate neighboring sites and give u more info

I'd search the 450 band , idk how signals in Louisiana reach , here in utah we are blocked by mountains so we are limited on distance. But in Louisiana u might hear 2 to 3 parishes from your location, so u may hear other sites

Ok so the network is 176, it is a connect plus dmr system, site 11 464.3375 color code 1. If its garbled its encrypted..
Program dmr system use 464.3375 and use id search and see if all the TG talkgroups are garbled , looks like u have some TGs already, add them by hitting enter even if they only come up for a second especially if encrypted..

Okay, now this is helpful! I programmed in site 11 and color code 1. Is there somewhere to put in network 176? I didn't see anywhere. Also, should I enter it as a DMR One Frequency even though you say it's Connect Plus?

So now should I run analyze or trunk system discovery? Thanks!

I do hear about 3 or 4 parishes from my location in Ascension Parish. Sometimes I do get St. John the Baptist!

The scanner gave u most of that info, however looking for the actual system is harder, especially when its not licensed. More than likely it has more than 1 frequency considering the other site listed on the smartcomm system , it has 5 sites which tells me it has more sites if yours is up to 11. I'd program it as a mototrbo system with 464.3375 and trunk analyze first, but I'd also search the 450mhz band from 450-470, that system uses both 450mhz and 460mhz with at least 2 frequencies a site.

If u had dsdplus it might populate the info faster and give u neighbor site info and LCNs. Since we don't have that , we will work with what we have here with the 536hp which is good with info

Gotcha. Right now I'm running trunked discovery on it. Do you mean I should run Analyze instead? LCN Finder? When you say "trunk analyze" it has me confused.

Also, how do you know it's a MotoTRBO system instead of DMR One Freq or something else?

I know these are all newbie questions, so thanks for bearing with me.

FYI I finally just got a hit. Someone said "Ten seven." Also, "Slot2" is flashing. What exactly does that mean?

Okay I think I've got a clue what this system is after listening to the tiny little snippets I've been catching here and there. One mentioned "South Stadium" which is a road on the LSU campus in Baton Rouge, which is in the next parish (county) over from me. Another transmission said "Seven, what's your twenty?" and the response was "Ben Hur, inbound." Ben Hur is another road near the LSU campus. So, what I'm thinking is that this is the LSU bus system that I'm picking up on . . .??

The system on the database said it was dmr connect plus which is what the scanner said, it said it was DEC 176 or network 176 which is what smartcomm said it has 5 sites, most dmr systems are 2 slot systems, the talkgroups are individual entities. The talkgroups that are listed in the database are 20xxx TGs, u said u heard 400xx TGs. Save them, ID them figure out what they are, and u can add them to the database so others can hear it too and add to the info u have started on.. its probably a mototrbo system , its not a one frequency system . U can use LCN finder but u have to have more than one frequency to use lcn finder.. so trunk analyzer is good to start. If there are other frequencies for this site 11. U may find another frequency that shows the same info u seen on 464.3375. U will see when there is traffic Nt 176 Site 11 U xxxxx TG xxxxx
So search the 450mhz and 460mhz and see if u find more frequencies or voice channels for this system. The 464.3375 u found is the control channel for this system, now u need the voice channels and Talkgroups (TGs).

This seems to also be school talkgroups, either LSU or all different schools on one system , anything is possible...

Each talkgroup which could be 40xxx may be LSU talkgroups

Yeah, I'm thinking maybe those 20xxx talkgroups listed in the database are St. John the Baptist parish school admin/bus talkgroups and the 40xxx talkgroups I'm picking up are for LSU admin/bus talkgroups that haven't been entered into the database yet. Maybe they're both sold by the same "Bearcom" that they were shown in the FCC database as being licensed to.

Doing more research now. Thanks for all your help!

Also, this guy from back in 2018 seems to think that the Smartcomm-D system may be totally deprecated or completely wrong. Hmm.
