I was running a search on my BCD536HP and hit on this particular frequency (see pic attached). It's a bunch of garbled digital noise, obviously. My question now is: How do I go about finding out what type of system this is and programming it in so that I can listen to whatever is on it? I'm still learning, so I need basic, step-by-step instructions on how to do this. I've played around with the Analyze and Discover functions, but I can't seem to get anything to work. Every time I go into those and it tells me to enter a system name, I get "system not found" or "nothing to scan", etc.

Sorry I'm such a horrible newbie, but I just need one little push in the right direction and I know I can figure this out....

Thanks!

Also, I am pulling in some talkgroups on this one. For instance, TG 40070 just showed up while I was holding on the frequency and some voice comms came through.

These 5 results popped up when searching that frequency in your state.

You near any of them?

The first thing we need is a sound file.
That is far more useful that a jpg. A soundfile with you telling us the frequency is far more useful.

What state did you search there? Doesn't appear to be Louisiana. Louisiana's search results are here. I'd focus on Svc "YG" licensees. Frequency is a part of a DMR/MOTOTRBO Connect Plus trunked radio system. Database search for Network ID 176 only yields an NXDN system in Virginia so that wouldn't be it

Closest stations geographically to the OP are as follows, both containing frequencies with DMR emissions

Thanks! Yes, it does seem to be one of these two stations. I've now hit upon two talkgroups, 40500 and 40700. My question is how to program this system into the scanner (or Sentinel) so that I'm able to listen to it correctly and explore it further. Every time I try to program it from the ground up using Sentinel, the scanner itself ends up telling me "nothing to scan"!

I tried the database, but wasn't very successful. My main question isn't what the channel is, but how to properly program in a "quick hit" system to further explore it. Thanks!

If you program a MOTOTRBO system by hand but don't enter at least one talkgroup you need to ensure "ID Search" is turned on
Menu > Manage Favorites > (select favorites list) > (select system) > Edit Sys Option > ID Search > On

You may need an optional Key for your scanner if it's DMR
Scanner has the DMR upgrade otherwise system data wouldn't appear as shown in post 1

Strangely I think it was having "location control" turned on that was making the scanner tell me there was nothing to scan! I turned it off and it's working again, or at least it appears to be.

So I've programmed in 464.3375 as a DMR One Freq channel and put in the two talkgroup IDs I've seen (40050 and 40070). It's in ID search mode and location control is off. Now I should just be able to run a "trunked discovery" and sit back and wait for it to catch other talkgroups, right? Or maybe run "analyze" on the system? Am I doing this right?

What upgrades does the scanner have? In particular does it have the DMR upgrade?

Okay, hold on a sec. CON is flashing while Trunked Discovery is in Progress. So it's a Connection+ system apparently. Does that change anything?

Ok so the network is 176, it is a connect plus dmr system, site 11 464.3375 color code 1. If its garbled its encrypted..
Program dmr system use 464.3375 and use id search and see if all the TG talkgroups are garbled , looks like u have some TGs already, add them by hitting enter even if they only come up for a second especially if encrypted..
