• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I'm working with a coworker on creating training guides for the use of all of our current radio communications systems, and recently came across a procedure for exporting radio programming info from the KPG-95DG software to a *.kft file that can then be imported to the Telex Software Manager (TSM) software. The issue we're coming across, however, is that the export function (which is supposed to be located under the File tab) is not there.

Does anyone know if this is a software or licensing feature and if it can be enabled? The screen shot my coworker grabbed is dated for March 7th, 2017 (13 days ago), so I can't help but wonder if there's a newer software version available (currently using version 7.21). Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

I had to shrink the images, so hopefully they're still easy to read. These screenshots were received from my coworker, so I haven't personally seen where they came from, who took them, or how they did it. I'm hoping I can get some more information from him today. The top one is the KPG-95DG software with the export function and the bottom is the TSM after importing the *.kft file.

Only thing I see different on the KPG-95 software screen shot is that it's KPG-95DG

I'm running KPG-95DGN.
Wondering if that software is for a different country/region than mine. I'm in the USA and the "N" part of the software name is the "narrow banding compliant" version.

I'm not running an advanced key, so maybe that has something to do with it.

That could be a possibility. We work for the State Department, so everything we program with this software is used all around the globe and our radio systems get specific firmware from the manufacturers (such as 1DD3 and 9780). However, unless the KP-95DG software functions like the GTR software (serial connections provide different functions than programming cables/cat5 cables), I can't figure out why the export function is completely nonexistent. Maybe it is a newer version.

The screenshot shows a COM1 port (serial) and a date of 3/7/17, so either/both of those could be the answer I'm looking for.

OK, that makes some sense. Federal users wouldn't be limited to narrow band, so it's possible that is a different version of software that what us regular guys get.

As always, best bet is to call Kenwood and ask them. The non-N software isn't available on the Kenwood dealer tools page, so it's probably coming from a different source in Kenwood.
