• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi all,
Finally picked up an ICOM F70 DT (with P25 & a bunch of other B&W that I will never use). Actually, 2 F70 DT's, in great shape & reasonably priced, from a good guy, who is also a member here. I've got a bunch of 2 Meter repeaters programmed into zone 2 and zone 1 is used to monitor New York State Electric & Gas, a state wide trunked P25 system. I've programmed all the voice channels from the entire state into zone 1.

Some frequencies are used as CC's in one location and as voice channels in another location. This radio, unlike some P25, non trunking radios, will not pass data burst audio, only voice. Most NYSEG locations have only one or two voice channels, so it works pretty well, even though it's not a trunking rig.

I'll be the first to admit that I am a computer dummy. I have OE ICOM SW (V 2.2.0.10) & OPC-966U programming cable. I need help with making this HT scan. I assigned the P0 button to scan, but when pushed, the display says scan, but it just sits on channel 1. If I hold down P0, it will scan all the channels in zone one, but as soon as you let go, it stops.

I'd be most grateful if someone more familiar with the rig could talk me through what I have to do to get this rig to scan .

The other thing that has me stumped is how to get zones 17 to 32 to show their contents. The knob up top shows zones 1-16. Haven't figured out how to get it to show zone 17-32. Any ideas / suggestions ??

Thanks & 73,
Bob

The knob is set for channels not zones.... If you do zones then you get 16. I have the ft-70dt with all the mods too. Scanning is easy in fact this radio was easier to program then the Motorola xts5000 which I have been using for over 5 Years. I'm a moto dealer. So please explain in detail what ur issue is with the f70
