There is a lot of information included in the log included in your screenshot if it is correctly interpreted. I know you have learned some of this, but this might help provide a deeper understanding. Lets dissect the activity shown in the activity log:

  • 15:08:32: You started DSD+ Fastlane

  • 15:08:44 - 45: DSD+ tuned to the Honaker site on STARS network
    • Network = BEE00.19E (STARS)
    • Site = 2.13 (Honaker)
  • 15:08:46 - 49: Neighboring sites are reported
    • 2.32 : Unknown
      • Site 2.32 has a control frequency of 151.2425. This site is not in the database
      • From performing a "Query FCC Licenses by Frequency and State" at RRDB | FCC Data | Query : This site is: ULS License - Public Safety Pool, Trunked License - WRMS814 - VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF STATE POLICE
      • FCC License Info shows this site to be
        • Call sign: WRMS814
        • Lat/Long: 37-03-15.1 N, 082-38-30.0 W
        • Location: 8206 GUEST RIVER ROAD; WISE, VA; WISE County
        • If you are able to receive this site, you can log the other frequencies on the site and submit this information to the database (you can find these frequencies logged in the DSDPlus.P25data file) Note that you will need to leave DSD+ tuned to this frequency for a period of time to receive enough transmissions to populate the list.
    • 2.14 : Norton
    • 2.28 : Big Walker Mountain
    • 2.10 : Whitetop Mountain
    • 2.12 : East River Mountain
    • 2.17: Oakwood
    • 2.16 : Abingdon
  • 15:08:51: You tuned to 858.6125. License Information from VA.csv is reported
    • The location of this frequency is reported as:
      • 15.49miles, 159degrees from your location
      • atop Big A Mtn
      • 5miles NW of Honaker, VA
    • The licensee is reported as PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATIONS SYS
  • 15:08:58: The network and site are reported (this information is extracted from the control channel)
    • Network = L170
    • Site = 2
  • 15:08:59: This frequency (858.6125) is not included in the DSDPlus.frequencies file
    • Limited information for this system is included in the RR database
  • 15:09:56: Neighboring sites are reported (This information is extracted from the control channel)
    • 1 : Unknown
    • 3 : Narrows
    • 5 : Unknown
    • 9 : Abingdon
The status line at the bottom of the window summarizes this frequency:
  • System Type = NEXEDGE96
  • System / Site = L170 / 2
  • RAN = 2
  • Neighbors = 1, 3, 5, 9
This system is: Professional Communications NXDN Trunking System, Various, Multi-State
I see that the system has been updated with your submission to include the Honaker site which you found. You will want to download the site and frequency information and update your DSDPlus.sites and DSDPlus.frequencies files if you haven't already done so.

Yes i have already updated it. any idea what could be causing my sds100 to cut off traffic when people are talking . it will stop on a frequency and the traffic will be happening and it will just cut it off and continue scanning . very frustrating

  • Are you connected to ProScan?
    • Proscan has an optional setting to resume scanning after a period of time
  • Do you have any of the priority settings enabled? (Close Call, Weather Priority, Priority Scan, etc)
    • Each of these can cause transmissions to be interrupted
  • Have you adjusted any of the delay settings?
    • A negative delay causes the scanner to resume scanning after that number of seconds

yes i have tried delay i set them all to 3 sec to try that and i changed the hold time to 2 then 1 then back to default 0 i have put all the delay back to defualt of 2

also i am having traffic pop up as p25 and then after that traffic ends i have the same freq show back up as NXDN all on the same channel same freq whats the deal with that.

No i don't have any of the (Close Call, Weather Priority, Priority Scan, etc) enabled

What frequency are you seeing this on? Do you have the frequency included in your programming twice?

Next time it does this, note the info regarding the system, site, talkgroups, frequency, etc and triple check your programming.
The freq is 155.2375 it shows p25 but sometimes it shows NXDN i looked it up and it shows both scott county and search and rescue and i'm picking up both in the scanner Link

Like for instance right now the scanner was stopped on a freqs and it was picking it up so clear i mean like 5 g on a cell phone clear and then it started cutting out and eventually the scanner just dropped it and moved on. you would think a signal that clear and strong wouldn't do that

It sounds like you are responding regarding your question of receiving p25 and NXDN on the same frequency. However, the text you quoted in your response refers to your issue of dropping a channel resuming scanning.

Please pay attention to what post you are responding to so that your multiple questions do not get confused.

<edit> In other words, I'm not sure what issue you are referring to.

It looks like frequencies are being reused in your area. On the sds100, when you program the correct mode (p25, dmr, nxdn, etc) and tone information (NAC, Color Code, RAN, etc), your programming should limit the reception to the appropriate agency.

BTW: you mention that the frequency is 155.2375. The RR db shows 155.235. Here is what I see when I do a frequency search of the database: (Note that links to query results do not work) Are you referring to ASRC SAR Tactical and Scott EMS Dispatch? Do the transmissions sound like they are from these agencies?

I will check in sentinel and see if it can assign the same tones and run to the channels and see if that fixes it

It is probably reducing its receiver sensitivity if it detects a strong transmitter within 7MHz of the frequency you are monitoring. In the 150MHz band you usually have some strong pager transmitters.

The scanner also has a lot of image frequencies. Lest say you have a transmitter at a frequency 150KHz away, then you might very easily hear that transmission as well as the transmission that you monitor. If the one you are monitoring are P25 then the other frequency could be a NXDN signal. You can program a frequency to only decode P25 or NXDN but the interference will still be there.

To try and fix that you can change the filter setting for that department. If it says Global in the department settings then change to Invert and test and then change to Normal and compare. Try also the Wide options for the filter. You sometimes have to play with these filter settings to get the receiver to work properly in a SDS scanner. Uniden opted to use a complete receiver chip for less than a dollar that are used in sat dish boxes and multimedia boxes, not so suitable for radio scanner use and then needs a user to try different filter settings to compensate for the poor performance from the receiver chip.
