All the new narrowband ems frequencies are active as of today. I believe there is one more freq left till monday.

All of the EMS narrowband channels start out by simulcating the mobiles only (not the dispatchers) from their current frequencies. When the transition for that frequency is complete, you will then also hear the dispatcher. The best bet is to listen to the current EMS CW2 to keep tabs on the daily changes as they occur. First all of the units will be told to use CW 2 starting at day tour shift start. When the narrowband channel is all set up at the dispatchers consoles, only then will the mobile units be told to switch to their dispatch channel and clear off of CW 2.

im know this is a little off topic, but i can't find a radio to do 6.25khz steps for the new narrow band frequencies, how would i round them off so i can still receive them FDNY/EMS?

You are most likely listening to the older frequencies. The newer frequencies are all above 482 and have 5 digits after the decimal point. These newer frequencies are what we are talking about.

CW1 482.16875 / 79.7 PL
CW2 482.21875 / 82.5 PL
SI 482.24375 / 91.5 PL
BK-C 482.50625 / 123.0 PL
QN-W 482.51875 / 97.4 PL
MN-N 482.75625 / 100.0 PL
BX-S 482.76875 / 114.8 PL
MN-C 482.98125 / 103.5 PL
QN-E 483.03125 / 94.8 PL
BX-N 483.20625 / 110.9 PL
MN-S 483.21875 / 107.2 PL
BK-N 483.28125 / 118.8 PL
BK-S 483.29375 / 127.3 PL

It would be difficult to do this as the new voice channels are narrower and if you use a wider bandwidth receiver that is in between channels, you will hear some noise mixed in as well as possibly the next adjacent channel as well. The purpose of the FCC mandating this type of change is so that they will result in two channels where one is now. It is called refarming of the spectrum.

you got the list of freqs for hospitals in the nyc metro area ? can you please post them.

They are listed on pages 78 to 84 in the 7th edition of the NYC Scanner Master book. Most of them are for maintenance, security and telemetry uses. There area a few for their own ambulances, but most ambulance traffic in NYC is on the NYC EMS frequencies.

my vertex vx-800 takes them, I wouldn't know why your vx-537 wouldn't work. make sure you set them to N on the software. talk to your dealer about this. he can play around with the radio and see if it works.

what's the difference between 154.250 and the 480 MHz freq??

Ok, this may seem like a dumb question, but I personally don't monitor NYC systems too often since I live in Jersey. However, whenever I am in NYC, I still hear the FDNY on 154.250 (I believe that's Manhattan's frequency), yet I noticed that the entire city is in the process of switching to new 480 MHz band frequencies. So, what is the difference between who is using 154.250 vs. who's using the 480 MHz frequencies in Manhattan since the FDNY and EMS are considered ONE combined agency?? Is 154.250 going to be dropped eventually or will it still be used and by whom? I would appreciate any friendly feedback regarding this.

Ben, so far everything is currently being simulcast on old and new freqquencies until the new radios are installed in all of the vehicles and they decide to pull the plug. I have no idea what the plans are for the old FD and EMS frequencies in the future.

Well, as of 5PM Wednesday 2/3/10 they have spent a total of 4 days screwing around with this one frequency with single and dual tone tests all day.
