I know in the Jacksonville Command Van's they have the EDACS mobiles and FHP Jax has a JSO Mobile. Now weather they program Radios with Local System in them we will have to wait and see. I maybe wrong but didn't someone say the State makes you buy a radio from them to use the system. If that is the case I don't think you will see any Locals buying more radios than they need. I would say Hqs and command vans only. But this is all conjecture.

Do SLERS (both 1.0 and 2.0) have roaming across the entire state? e.g. can a trooper in Jacksonville talk back to Miami without changing talkgroup? Do troopers have to change talkgroup manually during a let say multi-county pursuit?

I know there is one tg for statewide, but I think you need special permission to use it. It maybe in those documents. I just did a search on the internet using Florida SLERS Mutual Aid I think.

well, i can speak for brevard --- deputies ask dispatch all the time --- "could you contact FHP and ..... " i assume this is a phone call. there is no interoperability at all that I've seen between SLERS and the Brevard EDACS system.

Thanks for the research! It looks like statewide talkgroups are IA-STW-81 through 84.

that same thing happens in Volusia, despite all three systems are EDACS. Which makes me believe sometimes systems (be it P25, DMR or whatever) dont really matter as far as interop goes :p , systems are capable of, but underutilized. Also with SLERS being 99.9% full time encrypted, it doesnt help either.

Yes? Yes, what? He asked 3 questions that can have 3 completely different answers.

You don't have to post 3 times each different image; they will all fit into a single post.

Yes, It could be a phone call, or the contact could happen on statewide 155.37 MHz. I'll have to check again, but I don't remember hearing contact between them on that frequency; I may be out of range.

FYI - I have never heard Brevard call FHP on 155.370.

Here in Lee County (which is home to Ft. Myers - FHP Troop F Headquarters) all the PSAPs across the county have access to a talkgroup called "ICOM" which was/is used to communicate with the control center for FHP. I know the talkgroup is still in use (mostly for intercounty communications), but not sure if they still use it to contact FHP.

I can confirm there are about 4-5 talkgroups just for FHP on the Lee County system, just not sure what it's designated use is for (considering FHP operates on SLERS):

20460FHP LEE-DISP
20461FHP LEE-1
20462FHP LEE-2
20463FHP LEE-3
20464FHP LEE-SUP

Just FYI, I have on multiple occasions personally heard dispatchers patching the Brevard East BCSO TG with SLERS to talk with FWC for interoperability near the port/other waterways.

Once the situation was cleared, BCSO East dispatchers verbally announced “10-66 10-33 Clearing the patch with FWC”. You could audibly tell FWC was ProVoice digitized voice audio coming through the patch over to the analog EDACS Brevard system. It was not mixed mode FWC units operating “on” the BCSO systems TG otherwise I would’ve seen the PRV icon on my 536HP when they transmitted.

Why this sort of patching is not utilized with FHP I have no idea…for years I have heard Brevard and surrounding EDACS counties playing phone tag with FHP through dispatch centers rather than patching.

Side note: I was near I-Drive/Vineland Orlando area today and saw a FHP trooper with both a short 7/800 antenna which was a couple inches long as well as a full length 5/8 antenna mounted to the roof which looked suitable for VHF operation…. I have not seen that before on their SUVs in the greater Orlando/Brevard area before.

Now that you mention it there is the is the Motobridge System that will do console patches to the Slers System installed in every Counties and Cities Dispatch Center in Florida. Major Brain Fart on my part.
