acars log

I can never get acars log analyzer to work with acarsd. I put on the dde link but always get the message that the program can't find the acars program. I have been using the log analyzer with airnav and it works fine. Any body have any ideas? Thanks, Adkad

ACARS: multiple soundcards, multiple audio sources

In the describtion of the ACARS software the use of multiple (three?) soundcards is mentioned. Is it possible to use ONE soundcard 6.1, which has 6 inputs. Can I use these 6 inputs seperately for ACARS and other NAV communication ? The audio output is also 6 channels.
In that scenario I could handle multiple audio sources from receivers on just a single soundcard in one pc.

By the way, the antenna is facing north to north east if that helps.

I live in Prince George Co., near Petersburg, Va. The ACARS SD program is running fine but I cannot get the map to work for my area and need help. Meanwhile I will try to use the Midlothian, Va. one that was made for you. I'm about 30 miles south or Richmond.

For our area point your antenna east towards RIC airport. Tune to 136.8500 mhz. AM. That is the strongest ACARS signal for this area.

My latitude is 37.15 N and 77.30 W and would like a 500 mile area map.

Where is "va.gif"?

Is the website server down for the wobbylgoblin.dnsalias.com website? I have tried about 10 times to connect and each time the query timed out. I am on cable internet.

I discovered the problem. Adding "va.gif" to the URL won't work because "va.gif" has been removed from the URL making the link bad. By removing the "va.gif" portion of the URL the main website can be accessed. Doing a search of "va.gif" at
< http://wobblygoblin.dnsalias.com > redirects you to < www.local.com >. Doing a search there for "va.gif" returns nothing found meaning that "va.gif" has been removed from both URLs.

If I am doing something wrong please provide me the correct procedure to download "va.gif". Thanks.

Sorry. I have read all the posts in this group to include those you referenced but was focused on trying to acquire the gif file and failed to make the previous posted server misuse issue connection.

Flight IDs

Is there a list of Flight ID prefixes and the corresponding airlines?

UA, AA, NW are no-brainers and I've been able to get some info from FlightArrivals.com
Others like NK, XE and TZ, I haven't been able to figure out. Looking up the tail number doesn't always help because it shows banks as the owners.

Nevermind, I figured it out. :)

I finally got my map display to work today. I can receive 5 ACARS frequencies from my location in central Va. 136.8500 mhz. AM seems to be heavily used by Delta (DL) and Air Trans (FL). Both airline's aircraft give frequent position reports. As I fine tune the process I will create better reference documentation. I haven't yet checked out the other frequencies for their traffic.

Has anyone been successful in loading the airports file that comes with the acarsd software? "Load Airports" in the acarsd map option does nothing in respect to graphically displaying the appropriate ones on my card.gif map display. The card.gif file I created is working great and the aircraft position reports display correctly but not the appropriate airport's graphic symbols. If anyone knows how to get the airports to display please post the info or email me. I sight checked the airports file and selected US airports are listed.

I don't think that's what the airports file is for. It's a reference so that the software can display the name of an airport when the ICAO code appears in an ACARS message.

Thanks. No wonder it never worked. I like my iinterpretation too. Something like that could work using the airport's latitude and longitude values like in an aircraft's position report and loading it as a separate file. Maybe the program's creator could incorporate that as a future enhancement.
