Hi: I have the map of Denver installed as card.gif and the program says it is opening the default map which now the one of Denver. I have 4 latest reports and the program flashes to the map, but there is nothing showing on the map itself. That is, there is no sign of a position message on the map. Is there somthing I have forgotten to do? Also, is there a logging program that can be used with acarsd-my acars log analyzer doesn't seem to work. Thanks for any suggestions, Adkad

I got my Denver map working last night & only had about 20 hits on the map overnight. Not every transmision has the lat & Lon sent with it.

adkad, like sundance said, not all msgs have position included. you can tell the ones that do, you will see something like /N38.5430 W101.4400, etc.

double check that you entered the coordinates i gave you correctly. you have to include the minus sign on left and right.

are you using an outside antenna? doing so will give you many more hits.

somewhere inside the acarsd settings, there is a setting to log all transmissions, can't recall where it is.

Thanks guys. I have a dedicated outdoor airband antenna mounted 30 ft and I'm about 60 miles from DIA and get a lot of hits, so it was confusing. But I had left out the - signs and that was the trick. Working great now. I appreciate your taking the time to respond. Adkad

Exported one with co-ordinates and used my GPS for my home coords but it places my server in the middle of the state.

Home in Michigan map was set for
T 45
B 39
L -85
R -79

home is at
42 49 13.10
-82 29 52.20

Any help or ideas?

jlh, I know you've been doing this for everybody, but I am also lost...would you be able to create a map for Midlothian, VA (or Richmond, VA if its easier). I dont understand the whole co-ordinates thing. If you can thank you very much, if not I'll find a way....eventually

jlh,

ran last night and that MI map worked great. ALso got one of my sat images to plot pretty close to where it should be. The 2 maps going together make things real nice.

I was quite suprised on how far out I could get the planes. Just working the software to decode the flight numbers / planes and things is a chore with the very limited doc.

Going to play with this software for a bit. Have that and the ship plotting running. Now for the wish of a ACARS / AIS combined package. Guess I need to write one myself

jlh,
I have a 3 element yagi tuned to 160.000 Mhz in the attic (about 15-20 ft. off the ground), so however far out you think I can receive the data is perfect for me. I was looking about as north as D.C. and as far south as the NC border, East/West maybe 75 mi. or so, but if you think I can get further, thats excellent. Create whatever you think I can receive.

newbie, if you ever find a way to get the boundary long and lat from local.live.com aerial shots, let me know.
