What is the pre-cutover? Like, what are the actions that will take place?

My guess is to start replacing radios with ones that have both systems programmed, so when it's time to flip the switch, they'll be ready.

I'm patiently waiting to see everything go live, and really hoping the state isn't going to give everyone a big middle finger by encrypting everything.

Techs are currently touching all the radios in the state. They are adding zones that are on the new system. At some point the radios will be authorized on the new system and the new zones will start to work. This will allow agencies to start “testing”.

Later in the year there will be the hard cutover where various departments will switch to the new zones for their primary use. Then all radios will need to be reprogrammed again to remove the old zones and make the new ones primary.

There is a chance that at some point some TGs will be patched between the systems but I don’t believe there is a plan to patch everything 1:1.

Hey everyone in Utah, If you hope to keep scanning Utah public safety things are changing.
Here is the information I have.
1. System cutover looks to begin at the end of this year or the beginning of next year, This will bring an end to the dinosaur that is the UCA Motorola type 2 system.
2. VHF systems you are currently scanning may go dark. UCA provided significant funding with L3Harris to get rural county organizations to purchase radios compatible with the new system.
3. Scanners for p23 phase2 are expensive. but they do not have to be. I have had great success monitoring the active sites with a couple of simple $30 dongles and antennas.
4. I have created a discord for Utah scanner nerds to have communication about how they are scanning around Utah in anticipation of this new system.
I would likethe link to the discord please

#2 might be incorrect. I'm trying to find where I read it, but I read that those stations will NOT go dark, and that funding is secured to keep VHF alive as several counties rely on it.

I'm having the same problem. I can lock onto the 852.8375 control channel, but can't get a signal to hear the audio in SDRTrunk. I'm in west Davis by Syracuse. Could you share your screenshots or your playlist .xml files to help me out?
Thought I replied, guess I didn't. 852.8375 is control channel for the current 7202 UCA 800 Mhz system. I am unfamiliar with SDRTrunk, so I can't help you there.
