I know it says we can't submit anything using common services (MURS, GMRS, etc.) but could we make an exception to this?
This would go for certain businesses or attractions that are grandfathered to use GMRS. Because Allegan uses 462.700 MHz for city events, and there is (I think?) a hotel that uses 462.5875, both on repeaters mind you unless my scanner is fooling me.

Well that's an interesting thought. I've seen some GMRS repeaters in the database along with frequencies that a business is using.

Can you link to the FCC page that shows the licenses for these businesses?

While grandfathered business users are a thing, there's a lot more non-licensed users. Some radio shops were known to use GMRS as a dumping ground.

I would hope that illegal users would not get added to the database, but that's just me as a lowly non-premium subscriber...

I honestly don't know how to search for a license for a specific user group on GMRS since I can't just look it up by frequency or business name.
It's just very confusing to search, and they may not have a license at all but I don't know. All I can do is listen and collect what I can with my scanners.

Are you hearing the input frequency? Or do you hear the repeater ID, or a squelch tail from it? If not, then they could very well be using FRS radios on simplex.

For which one? I don't hear a repeater ID for either, and I just discovered my scanner shows the duplex for most channels, even when there is no carrier. They might be simplex, but idk. But they both use tones; one DCS and the other CTCSS, So I figured they're on repeaters.

Not sure what you mean by "shows the duplex".

Lots of FRS users use tones, especially business users.

Not saying they aren't using a repeater (which would most likely be unlicensed) but quite possible they are not. How close are you to the users?

With the hotel, idk. I have no clue where it is but I get fine reception from it but gets randomly spotty at times.

Also, I meant it shows the input frequency

If you have enough to submit it for a valid, confirmed entry into the database you should have enough to search the FCC database for license grant. You pull up the FCC search page and enter in Business, city, state, and/or frequency.

Tones can be used on simplex as well, FRS can use tones and there is no repeaters with them.

I see no FCC license for 462.700 in the state of Michigan.
As others have pointed out, they aren't using licensed frequencies. In my opinion we should not be putting unlicensed frequencies in the database since we don't know if they are even being used by the hotel or other business or some employee playing around on his new Christmas Baofeng.

That might suggest that it is simplex and you are hearing them directly. When it gets spotty, it might mean that the user you are hearing is in a location that you can't hear quite so well.

As for the FCC database, if it was grandfathered businesses using GMRS, you won't find them by frequency, you'll need to search using the radio service "ZA" and other confirmed info. Almost always, grandfathered GMRS users will have the older style GMRS call signs as in 3 letters and 3-4 numbers.

take another week and work on it.
and don't assume it is a hotel even with room numbers, could be a nursing home.

I searched all services and got zero results in Michigan.

Well, I hear a lot about check-ins and to-go check-ins which idk what that is, so I assumed it was a hotel or some sort and we have some around here.

They could be using FRS totally legal, and you can just hear them really well. Nothing wrong with a business using FRS.

when you think you found it get very close and take the antenna off, if you still hear it, you found them.
