Hi there,
I am new to amateur radio and GMRS specifically (don't have my ham license just yet), and I had a question about repeater behaviour.
If I transmit to a know repeater input frequency and have another radio next to me listening to the output, I only hear a static broadcast following the end of my transmission.
However, if I leave home and go 4 blocks away and then broadcast, my brother can hear me as I transmit and then we both hear the static broadcast when I am finished.
Can another radio only pick up my broadcast if I am further away (is my transmit overpowering the other radio's receive?).
Thanks for the help.
