got the frequencies, but not getting anything

I have a uniden 246 handheld. I know it works as some signals i get with no problem, but i dont seem to be getting any police calls. I am using the rubber antenna that comes with it. I have seen the new digital antennas but ae they worth the price. Anyinformation would be great.

If you're trying to listen to just about anything in Marion county, you will need a scanner capable of receiving digital transmissions. The 246 will not do it, no matter what antenna you use. There are many scanners available that will work, I would suggest reading through the forums a bit to see which one to go with. A new one will run $400-500. You should be able to find used ones for around $250 or so.
