I had a meeting today with Harris. Towards the end I said "Hey, so hows it going in Florida?"
They said "Very well….."
Essentially they agreed (no surprise) that Motorola was throwing a fit because they didn't get to pull this stunt first. They had agreed to the contract, then decided not to sign at the last minute. They got called on it and now they realize they screwed up. As usual, blame it on someone else…
It is really hard to feel sorry for /\/\. They have had decades to get this business by being better and cheaper but failed again.
This is not the first time Motorola has gotten cold feet and screwed themselves in Florida. The original Miami Dade RFP (1990's) was basically written by /\/\ and Motorola Corporate decided the transit data component was (strategically) risky and threw a monkey wrench into their own response. I was there when the walls crashed down. It was fugly.
