Wow, such arrogance. Read what I said again. I never said what you wrote was wrong. I said that hopefully whatever you post further will be factual. You yourself said you heard from somewhere else. Geesh, chill out man!

Are you more concerned with being the first person to release the info or informing the community? Here, let me kick that high horse out from under you...

If there is ever an arrogant person on a high horse, it's you.

Alright, that's enough, because you aren't one to talk on any level.

I think we can all get over it.

Multi color LEDs. YES, no more damn blue light UNIDEN
Signal strength meter. AGC. EDACS SCAT!!
This unit has it all EXCEPT....
NO COMPUTER CONTROL. Come on GRE, we NEED that for streaming!!!!!
ALMOST PERFECT!!!!!!!!

Damn, I gotta get me one of these...
(Oh yes, will it do 500Mhz digital trunking? We gonna need that for the new NCPD system).

Now wait, 700 Mhz is NOT listed on the spec sheets.

Nor is I-Call. No analog AGC, still a brick. Can't call it Signal Stalker II, that's a Radio Shack trademark. So glad to hear that Don Starr and I assume Butel also will have the software.

Wow this radio looks impressive. I just hope they fixed the problem with overloading because the current GRE digital scanner cannot be used in mobile environments as it overloads when coming within 1/2 mile of a cellular tower.

I don't have that problem at all, I'd check your programming or take it in for service.

Right, I saw that and the 36,000 channels and 16,000 TG Id's. I'm just wondering more about the term and more so how many TG's per system etc..

I have never had the need for an analog AGC with my 2096's. They all sound amazing as is.

The best thing I've seen so far is that the digitals also include regular LTR and all the EDACS modes (yea I know, except the ProVoice that can't be included). NAC's will also fill a void. GRE could have stepped up an added USB support and digital audio recording. Sounds like a long time in development without more new features. Can't help but wonder if Radio Shack had planned to sell these models, and then decided not to continue after all the changes at RS corporate.

I'd be willing to bet money that is the case. It 's becoming more obvious that RS is eliminating or at least reducing their footprint in low-volume, low-margin, support intensive lines. I imagine RS branded CB will be gone too, just as ham radio is. The 500 series radios look fine, but I imagine we'd have seen in Pro-something garb if RS hadn't said 'sayonara' to private branded radios. I don't blame them. It used to be you could sell a basic scanner to Grandpa and Grandma Smith so they could listen to the 5 or 6 local channels that covered all the important fire/ambulance/police activity in the community. Now the local PD is all ProVoice, and the surrounding counties are either EDACS trunking or APCO25. You might find that fascinating, but I can guarantee you that Grandpa and Grandma Smith (who coincidently bought 90% of the scanners) won't touch gear like that with a 10 foot pole. Scanning as a geek hobby is alive and well, but as a consumer activity it is DEAD, DEAD, DEAD and consumer activity is what determines what goes on the shelves.
