Yes, there is a deal.. which I'm not going to spill the beans on. Mostly because I don't know the entire story, but just the jist of it. *cough* Verizon *cough*

The CDM1550 LS does come in a 200 MHz flavor, I looked that up earlier.

There was a post that the radios might be Motorola CDM1550. I don't think Motorola sells anything in the 220 band. Sounds funny that they would rent space from someone that probably does not have coverage up and down the entire length of the roads. There might be some deal.

The Parkway radio system is on fiber, the cable runs the length of the road.

I couldn't find the thread about the GSP Maintenance freqs, so I will tack it on here. Finally, I heard voice on 857.0875 here in Toms River. Anyone else monitoring the 4 800 Mhz channels?

I haven't been monitoring them lately Dave, the new system is still a little while away, I'm going to guess and say it might be a LTR Passport type of system.

At this time I must assume the techs are working on or making adjustments to this system here in Toms River.

The 217.900Mhz chan is in a constant keyed up state and 217.600, 217.700, and 217.800 are pulsing much faster than before.

Anyone else able to confirm or copy any traffic?

I'm hearing the same thing you are. I know there has been testing, but, it's been up north, and we won't hear it down here.

I just heard 857.0875 today in Bergen County for the first time. Anyone hear any of the new I-Call or I-TAC frequencies yet?? If not have they heard the old frequencies?

Operations and Maintenance are still on the 800 frequencies, from what I hear January or February for the new 220 system. If it does wind up to be a LTR Passport system were out of luck anyway.

I am hearing traffic and both GSP 800 Maint. Channels the last 2 days. I have not onticed any new antennas on the NJTP or GSP trucks, vans, pick ups as of yet. Remembers they have to replace thousands of radios and this won't be overnight. Safe to say for those of us that like to listen to the snow traffic I think we are safe this season at least.

The word from inside the Turnpike is that the new radio system "sucks". I don't know any further details other than management is no longer impressed by it.

GSP 220 MHz System

Ok folks, I did a little "stalking" before on the GSP and came up with the following results:

Woodbridge HQ tower:

217.5375*
217.6250
217.6875
217.8375

Union Toll Booth tower:

217.6000
217.7000
217.8000
217.9000

Bloomfield (SP Barracks) tower:

217.5625*
217.6500
217.7875
217.8625

Paramus tower:

217.5375
217.6250
217.6875
217.8375*

The frequencies denoted with a * indicate that it was heard with no pulsing sound to it; otherwise, it had the pulsing sound every two - three seconds. Note that with the Woodbridge location, the following freq's were also heard pulsing, however, I was in a 6.25 step search at the time; with the others, I switched over to a 12.5 step: (all begin with 217) .3875; .4775; .6225; 6275; .7775. Take note that no voice was heard on any of the channels listed above.

I will update the list with frequencies heard from the other areas hopefully later on in the week.

A friend of mine a Regional communications in Paramus made a comment that these 220 system have a lot of problems, They use to have a system they rented to clients but they had so many problems with it they got rid of it. Now you really think especially with saftey in mine they will fully put the system out there ? My guess is no, Sounds like someone did not do there homework on this one at the NJ Highway Authority. Sounds like they may have pi$$ed away a lot of money on this one.

FYI,

Not sure if everone knows but..

Passport systems can be tracked and monitored with Eric Cottrell's LTrunk program, see the LTR Decoders section in the RR Wiki at:
http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/Trunked_Radio_Decoders

You would need a special filtered data slicer and it works like Trunker.

Also the system in question was known as Mobex before it went under and was purchased by another company.
