It's best to just ask for help here and not post your e-mail address. Besides, your e-mail address is in all kinds of leaked databases according to the haveibeenpwned website.

I own the scanner you mention. What would you like help with? Do you have the ProScan software?

Welcome to the RR forums @jazzboi2018. If you're looking to monitor Las Vegas emergency services you can take police out of the monitoring equation as they are FULLY ENCRYPTED. You may experience simulcast distortion with a 996p2 if you're trying to monitor 233 LV Simulcast on Southern Nevada Area Communications Council (SNACC) for Las Vegas Fire depending on your location relative to two or more towers on the cell. Feel free to try these multipath mitigation suggestions but you'd be much better off with an SDS200 (or SDS100) to monitor simulcast systems such as this.

Yes I have proscan. How do I get bank one back I was trying delete data and some how clicked on bank 1 and don't see it now. Also. If I program with proscan. Off of radio ref. Will the frequencies be programmed as the P25 phase I & II. Or will I have to go to menu and still down to the trunk or P25 features. I'm sorry this scanner is too advanced for me. I need step by step help.

It would help to know what you want to monitor.
Need help from start 1. I have proscan. How do I use radio reference data for my state/Las Vegas. I've noticed I was trying to delete data and hit bank 1 and now I don't see it. Please help me step by step from the start to the end. I also noticed north Las Vegas police can be monitored if you go to menu under Motorola. You can look in the forum under Nevada to read in detail and then tell me. I hope you will help me program my new toy as it's just sitting here turned off. Thank you. Jazzboi2018

The BCD996P2 is not a bank scanner but rather a DMA type. Take a look Dynamic Memory Architecture
P25 Phase 1 and 2 frequencies are programmed the same way

Referencing post #4...Las Vegas PD is NOT MONITORABLE...it's fully encrypted, you can't hear it...no one can!
I would private message one of the above local posters and see if they can meet with you or give you detailed instructions over the phone. Using ProScan makes programming WAY easier but you still have to start somewhere.

GOOD LUCK.....

Here is a ProScan file with the SNACC trunked system for you to try. It includes the 7 sites covering from Las Vegas down to Boulder City. The Las Vegas Simulcast and Mandalay Bay sites cover Las Vegas. The Arden Peak, Lake Las Vegas, and Lake Mead sites cover the central area including Henderson. The Red Mountain and Hoover Dam sites cover Boulder City. You will be able to easily select one or any combination of sites by pressing 1 thru 7 on the scanner keypad. Pressing a site's system quick key number will toggle it on and off. The sites and fire departments are arranged in order from North to South. Save the attached files to your computer. Open the first file with ProScan. Connect your computer and scanner with the programming cable. Click on Upload to Scanner. The second file (PDF) will answer all of your questions about using quick keys. Print it out and save it for your reference. Quick keys as follows:

SYSTEM QUICK KEYS:
1. SNACC LV Simul (Site)
2. SNACC Mandly Bay (Site)
3. SNACC Arden Peak (Site)
4. SNACC Lake LV (Site)
5. SNACC Lake Mead (Site)
6. SNACC Red Mtn (Site)
7. SNACC Hoover Dam (Site)
GROUP QUICK KEYS:
1. System Interop
2. ClarkCo Fire
3. ClarkCo EMS
4. ClarkCo Hospital
5. N Las Vegas Fire
6. LasVeg Fire/Resc
7. Henderson Fire
8. BoulderCity Fire
9. Henderson Police

Gotta love how people from Texas & Pennsylvania show-up in the Nevada forum, giving such definitive-sounding, very broad (& very subjective) statements regarding local Las Vegas area radio stuff...

"Las Vegas Police" Department hasn't existed in over 50 years, but one Las Vegas police agency that can & is easily monitored is the LV City Marshals, with several talk-groups on the SNACC system.

Objectively-speaking, there are some non-secure LVMPD communications that can & are being heard by parties with the correct frequencies in common or sophisticated scanners & SDRs. One pretty obvious example I'll give are some of the established interoperability talk-groups & frequencies, but there are other circuits I won't mention, but aren't difficult to figure-out & pretty easy to monitor once you're aware of their existence.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department provides law enforcement services for all of Clark County, including the City of Las Vegas, and operates on this fully encrypted system.

I am here in Las Vegas and I can tell you that the only law enforcement that you will be able to monitor is the Las Vegas City Marshalls (park police basically) and perhaps some federal law enforcement, like the BLM. Las Vegas Metro has been encrypted for the past 5+ years. North Las Vegas Police Department went encrypted a few years ago. Henderson Police Department is in the process of encrypting and about half the channels are encrypted and I am told (by HPD insiders) that by the end of this year, all of the channels will be encrypted.

When it comes to fire departments and EMS, everything is wide open and any P25 capable scanner will be able to receive them.

True, although those are pretty small and specialized departments, nobody is probably listening to their traffic, which is why they probably haven’t spent the money to encrypt.
