I didn't want to start a another "Hum" thread, but this reported "hum" problem in the SDS200;
Is that a low level 'whine' that sounds exactly like microprocessor noise that is NOT affected by a volume setting I hear with an external speaker?Grounds using spade lugs.JPG

Exactly, at least when my first one experienced that. I didn't mess with it, I sent it back and bought another one a couple months later with no problems!

Separate SDS 200 Wish list;
Dedicated Hold & Scan keys (similar to the 996P2), not hidden or combined with other functions. The two most uded functions on a scanner (at least based on my 45-50 years of using more than one).

I wish that when you hold on Department, you can use the knob to scroll through Departments like when you hold a Channel.
This has been covered, You already can.. :rolleyes:

Another wish list item; Support for some of the newer amateur radio digital voice modes such as D-Star. Yes it would require a paid update, and it might only be installable on the SDS scanners due to the SDR technology. Surely there are hams at Uniden research that could test this out.....

Allow me to clarify once again. When you are holding on a Channel, you don’t have to press channel again to scroll through a channel. You just use the knob to scroll. This isn’t a feature when you are holding on a Department. If you use the knob, it changes the scan orientation (?) going up or down.

Thank you for referencing the thread that I brought this up, too. I clarified in that post with an example.

Read again, real closely, and a bit further. The function is there. I assure you it will work if done correctly.. I've tried it myself just to make sure I'm not blowing smoke.. :LOL:

It sure does work...
Did it on the 100 and 200...
Should work on the 436 and 536 too...

But it doesn't say to then "Press and Hold down" the "Dept" key while scrolling (In the easier to read manual)... That could confuse some people...

On sentinel when have 3 different systems on a trunking
1 Analog Motorola 7/8/900mhz
2 P25 Trunk
3 Connect Plus
Say if there is a system on 8xx analog and the area goes to a p25 trunk (using same freqs) instead making a new whole list and have to copy and paste can take awhile to do depending how many sites depts channel names etc... is there a way to edit the "System Type"

Only in notepad by editing the file manually, I believe ARC536 gives you that ability. Dunno about Proscan, probably does as well. You can't do it within Sentinel.

You'll have to find the correct hpd file to edit the 'system type' field, the f_list.cfg file tells you which FL is in which *.hpd file. You will need to close and reopen Sentinel after editing and saving the changes to the file in order for the change to be viewed in the software.

I went to sentinel and did that it worked for rename the system type. I did this following
1st made a new System Name Example Edacs A >
2nd paste the System Name I copied and it did ask me what System Type I put MotoTRBO Trunk than
3rd went to the hpd file and I put in LTR and closed everything and it didn't work. I went back and Put Ltr and closed everything and it changed MotoTRBO to LTR. When I copied the system name it didn't copy the whole system just the what ever was in that line. I was hoping to there is a easier way to copy the whole thing with type copy & paste everything like to keep old & new file(s).

You have them.... HOLD is press the channel soft key when it's on the channel you are interested in and SCAN is to press the channel soft key again.

OR if you are stopped on a station and you want to go back to scanning, just turn the function key.

@JoeBearcat This may have been asked before but I can't find it, so apologize if it has, sds100 and BCD436hp both.. when I try to manually move between systems, some conventional some trunked, just scrolling it will lock on a trunked system with "site lock" displayed now it goes no further, just scrolls through that site. I hit Function and hit or hold dept/site button, get the message site unlocked, but it either locks up again right away, or as soon as I turn the knob it locks up again. Latest firmware. This seems like a firmware bug in these systems. any way to get it to stop locking?

Very strange this is the only post I know of this happening but it only effects 1 out of thousands made.
#1 Update FIRMWARE.
#2 Double check all PROGRAMMING.
#3 Please record and post a video of this happening.

Last evening I started to look for threads that had pending questions/issues. It became quickly apparent this was a massive task that could take weeks to complete, so I am asking for some help to identify threads that have pending questions/issues. For now, I would like to focus on issues such as basic functionality of Uniden scanners (firmware update issues and major bugs), and would like to avoid (for now) service issues.

Either links to these threads or posts explaining the core issue would be appreciated. I will continue to look for these threads on my own.

The Uniden TWIKI is currently being updated. I believe the BC125AT TWIKI is complete and I am working on updates to the others - currently waiting for info from the engineers for other models. The BC_VUP software has been updated to make certain the latest versions of firmware are available, but questions on that are also welcome. There were issues with the BC125AT which I believe are now resolved (new factory models had firmware versions newer than BC_VUP allowed to be installed, and at least one user made his scanner unusable by installing an old version of firmware - solution: Update to the latest now if you have that issue.)

I appreciate anyone who can help identify these threads with issues that are not resolved.
Perhaps you can help me out with a BCT15X and 'un-protecting' a system. the 2/9 reset thing doesn't do it.
