PSR-800: Help with PSR-800 firmware

Ok i bought this radio off of ebay for $285 1 year ago and it had the whistler ws1080 version on it. I am not sure if it was the hacked version or the official version from whistler. I have contacted the seller from ebay asking which method he used to upgrade it but, i have not heard back.

It has lost P.2. i don't think it has lost DMR because when i go to create a conventional frequency i can still select DMR for that frequency.

I hope this clarifies things.

But i can hear audio in phase 1 and conventional it just doesn't pick up the audio on phase 2.

It's like the scanner can't pick the control channel on a phase 2 system.

Please clarify your original post. Did you lose P.2 or DMR? The latter is a symptom of a "bricked" radio. Yes, they will still turn on and work, they just won't receive DMR anymore.

Your original post claimed it was a Whistler upgraded unit. Now you say you bought it online, so do you only have the seller's word about this? If so, and if it is locked out of DMR from the later FW interacting with the illegitimate upgrade, you have two options: Make the seller give you your money back, or send it to Whistler for the official upgrade plus the unlock service. This will cost you $89 plus shipping. Depending on how much you gave this could be a viable option but if the price was over say $250 I'd make the seller take it back and refund my money.

Later firmware's have improved p25 reception greatly. except for some simulcast systems

I had been using the scanner on a phase 2 system for 1 year already and it worked just fine for a year. it just stopped working on Feb. 23rd 2018 after i tried to upload some audio files.

In my first post i explained that i got an error message when i tried to turn the scanner on. So here is my first post:

"Today i went to the pc programming software to upload some audio files and i also deleted a conventional channel. I then copied the configuration to the sd card and afterwards i went to turn the scanner on and got an error message that said there was an error initializing the sd card files, error code 03-01. I did take the sd card out several times which did not resolve the issue. So i read one of the posts on here that said an sd card reformat may work. I did the reformat and now the phase 2 firmware seems to be gone."

After the reformat it's like the phase 2 capabilities were erased.

So it's not any changes to the system, i think it was the reformat or something that erased it.

You have more then one issue, FIRST attempt to fix the memory card using windows, then format and reinstall your data. and report back.

If windows can;t fix the card replace it with a SANDISK 8gb Class 4 speed.

Well i reformatted the sd card already and i am able to now power on the radio and it only receives phase 1 and conventional and i am pretty sure it still does DMR.

But i do not know how to get the phase 2 firmware back onto the radio/sd card.

FIX the drive via windows first, formatting is NOT fixing the drive

Install data Via ezscan, restore from archive if you previously saved one (and you should have) \.

If you don't have any data in ezscan then you will need to go to library import, select the "preferred" method and pick what you want, then select import.

Once you have data setup in ezscan...use the prepare scanner memory card for use, this will format, install the data you have previously imputed in ezscan and install the RR library.

What operating system is on your computer windows 7,8 , 10 ?

If your not using a card reader ( it is 10 times faster then usb) then you have to use a usb cable.
