• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

double click on a knob position to open it...You see it is MONITOR that means it only scans the TGs you selected. Currently voice storage is turned off, if you want to record all call it can be changed.

Go to close to the bottom and you'll see the TGs on the left, add or delete what you need for each zone.

OK so I just need to add the TG's for each site. What about that knob position 6 RISCON ALL? What do I do with that cause I already have the 5 separate sites? Is this knob position 6 just a pool of all the other sites?

Yes 6 is everything with a wildcard (called Group 1 because I forgot to change name to wildcard before I sent it) to catch all comms, but they will only be displayed by TG number, not name. If you want to delete it right click on the box and select DELETE.

Everything is programmed for those, deleting a knob position does not delete systems imported, it only delete the knob slot.

Now all you need is a pager to program. I can almost guarantee you'll want to change it up a few times. Good luck :)
OK I think I have a decent program for RISCON which is good. Later on I want to add some conventional PD and Fire to on of the other knob positions....then if I am brave, I want to add some commercial DMR in there. Thanks for all your help. I might want to add some non-published talk groups that I have down the road.....no doubt I will be back here....sorry to take up so much time.

One thing I forgot to ask is I put all of my talk groups on all 5 sites in the priority talk group list section. Does that matter as far as scanning? Should I have put them in the non-priority?

Putting them in priority means voice monitoring stops while they jump to the priority. It is recommended that Priority be used (if you must) on only one or two important TGs. Otherwise, the voice traffic will continually be interrupted and you may miss something important. I do not have any TGs on priority.

Ok I am waiting for radio to arrive this afternoon. I will go back and put all talkgroups in priority into the non priority space. I don't need a priority channel. When I get radio and charge it up, should I READ FROM RADIO first thing? I am hoping mh radio model is the same one I used to create the codeplug!

You do not need to read from radio, but it is a good idea, that will add another profile and give you the original info from the pager. Then you can program the pager using the profile we created, just make sure the model is correct, if not convert it in the PPS.

IMPORTANT: Export profiles and save them as backups, always keep the original and at least one backup before you make changes to the PPS.
