I bought a cheap little $10 rechargeable speaker from Pep Boys. Works great. Use a stereo-mono plug in between.
You are not going to get much audio out of a non-amplified speaker when trying to drive it from a headphone jack. As JASII suggests, you need an amplified speaker.

Primarily it's for Bluetooth, but it has a 3.5mm stereo jack (and comes with a patch cable). Good battery life, loud audio, and works out well for music, too.![]()

Cant get this to work either, has wires on it to power off vehicle. Wont work for home use

you need this! 12 volt 1 amp power supply .tracer is positive or RED .
