My home pat 2 is having sd card problem, try to format, try reinstall sentinel, It still say the same thing as in the picture, and now scanner does not want to write or read as soon as I power up a message say remove battery one minute. Can-it be a conflit between sentinel and ARC for home patrol programs?

That exact error message usually indicates that Sentinel is having a problem with your Window's regional settings that are using commas instead of decimal points.

Search for "region" in the Windows search bar and choose "set regional format" and change the regional settings to Canadian - English so that the decimal point character is represented as a dot instead of a comma. Then reboot the computer and try Sentinel again.

If you have formatted your card...... New (or newly formatted) SD cards will not be recognized by the scanner until you use the "Clear User Data" function in Sentinel.

With your card in the scanner, put the scanner in "Mass Storage Mode" (or use a separate card reader if you have one.... much faster). You may need to connect the scanner to your computer before turning the scanner on to enter mass storage mode.

Download this utility (recommended by Uniden) then use it to format the card.... use the "overwrite format" option.

Then Use Sentinel's "clear user data" to restore the proper operating files to the card. (click the "show all drives" box when the clear user data utility starts). Then write from Sentinel to the card to restore your info to the card. Re-boot the scanner (or if you used a card reader, put the card back in the scanner and turn it on).

I have a new home Patrol 2 with the same issues
If you get that database error then change the regional settings in Windows and if not using a USA country setting then change the decimal point from comma to a dot, or use that Canadian setting. If you get another type of SD card error then do that "Clear User Data" from Sentinel and write your programming file back on the SD card including an updated database.

Have tried all of that no success the original SD card that comes with the home Patrol too when I went to remove it and put it back in it came up SD card error message I could not use a formatted new SD card because it also came up SD card error I do believe it's something wrong with the home Patrol 2 inside like I said it was working out of the box then I decided to add a 8 GB card it did not work it came up error message I put back the original SD card that came with my home Patrol too with the original software on it that comes from Uniden and it came up error message SD card error message please remove batteries for 1 minute that's all it does no matter what I do formatting doesn't work redoing the data on Sentinel doesn't work pretty much stuck has anybody anybody found a way to get past that I'd appreciate it

It's me again I also cannot get it to recognize the computer it will not come up on a computer when I plug it in from the home Patrol to unit to my computer because it will not go into Mass storage mode

Has anybody that owns a home Patrol too found any fixes for these problems I would greatly appreciate anybody that could help me with this problem

Start with the scanner TURNED OFF...

Connect the cable to the scanner and to the computer with Sentinel running, THEN turn the scanner on.. it should go right into mass storage mode. Then use the clear user data function in Sentinel, and select "display all drives" box in the clear user data window and follow the prompts.

If no luck with that, replace the card with a new one and run the "Clear User Data" process again..

Do you have the card inserted correctly? Is the card formatted to FAT32?

When I take out the original SD card that came with my home Patrol to and try to reinsert it without doing anything just remove it and then put it back into my home Patrol too it comes up with SD error message please remove batteries for 1 minute and that's with the original card that came with the unit it won't let me get into mass storage with that message displayed there is no mass storage why it's stuck in SD card error message with remove batteries for 1 minute so you can't do anything through the scanner has anybody removed their SD card from their scanner and tried to reinsert it without getting an error message because all I do is get the error message please remove batteries for 1 minute

Does the SD card go into its slot with a click, so that it's inserted fully?
Do you have a SD card reader or a laptop with a reader so you can check that the new SD card can still be read OK when it has been in the scanner and haven't got any corrupted files?

I have removed the SD card quite a few times from my Home Patrols and have never seen that issue as long as the card is re-inserted all the way until it locks in.

Having several of the Home Patrol scanners (1&2) in constant use since they were first released 10-12 years ago, I can assure you that the issues you are having with just removing and replacing the SD card do not happen on a routine basis.

Watch the video at the link below and be sure you are inserting the SD card properly:

Is the SD card bigger than 32gb? (Shouldn't be.) Is it formatted to FAT32? (Don't format with default settings.) Are the contacts (card and card slot) dirty? (Shouldn't be!)

Usually, the biggest culprit is the card format, if the card is otherwise readable on the computer! :)
