• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I'm watching Hot Fuzz on DirectTV channel 513, one of the CineMax's.

It's a pretty funny movie, but I've noticed something that I've never seen before.

they have the non-public safety HT1000/JT/MTS speaker mics with antennas attached on top?!

Is that something that's available in europe or something, or do you think it was put together for the movie?

Thanks!
Watchin 'er right now.

N2DLX:

That first one was it, but I didn't see an orange button on it in the movie.

I would sport one of those!... if they exist!

I currently have one on my MTS2000, part number NMN6194A, but it has a coiled cord. I also have one for my Astro Saber with the straight cord like in the movie, it has the orange button on it, the part number for it is PMN6053A.

Most police in the UK used them when they had their UHF analogue systems with the Motorola MT6000E (99ch GP900 with enc options and top display).

This was all before the TETRA system that is used 100% now.

Public Safety Speaker/Mic

Can you not put a Public Safety Shoulder Mic that has an antenna on it on a VHF HT1000 Radio? If not, Why? If you can, Where would I be able to find one?

I have a couple of those here on a set of UHF JT1000s of mine. I seem to recall Motorola issuing a statement or something to the effect of saying that the RF being transmitted through them did not play well with the "coiled" cord or something like that.... I've since modified mine (removed the RF pins and metal prong) so that they act as regular mics...

I had heard about the issue too with the coiled cord, but i've used mine on the 800 and UHF and never had any issues. I like them better than the square PS mics.

Alot of the PD's that are on VHF put stubby VHF antennas on PS mics. Ive seen it on HT1000's and I have one I use on my XTS Motorola doesnt reccommend it but it works when I need it on a repeater system

Would it get better reception it being on your shoulder instead of on the actual microphone? I would think that it may get less reception going from a 6 inch heli to a 2 inch stubby?
