• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I never had a problem logging into RR using V0.3.16.21, but I tried to import Maryland FiRST and it imported all the UNSELECTED TGs! I downloaded Beta22, and it was better, but it still did not catch all the TGs I selected. I see the popup warning about "invalid info or duplicates will be ignored", but that tells me nothing about what fails. I hate to admit Moto CPS has any redeeming value, but it tells you exactly what info is invalid. I suggest Unication do the same, and give you a chance to fix the fields or cancel.

Am I missing something?

To clarify the previous post, I have tried several attempts at reimporting FiRST. I will give the benefit of the doubt on control & alternate channel import (48 sites, 96 control channels), but I have not scrutinized them line-by-line. Clearly, no matter what you do with talkgroup import, even when trying to import *all* of them, the TGs I select and the TGs that actually import are not the same. Kudos to Unication and @Uni1 for spending the effort to do this, but it's not usable yet.

Has anyone else had the same problem of the talkgroups you select not being the same as what actually imports from RadioReference?

Ok... here is the SOLUTION...

Your issue is most likely due to not allowing the first initial download adequate time.. I too stopped it after 10 minutes thinking that it had crashed. When you do that, you screw the connection and future attempts won’t work.

I tried several things as mentioned in this thread and nothing worked until....

1. uninstall your PPS software
2. Install it again
3. Connect your radio, download your profile.
4. Click the connect to RR database button (PPS will think this is your first attempt) and D/L the whole thing again
5. WAIT FOR IT.. mine took 28 minutes to fully download the database.

from that point it will work from then on - Once you have the whole DB downloaded to your computer, you can Then choose “offline” for Faster “downloading to your PPS”. Basically you only need to connect and download from RR periodically to update your database on your computer.

That has been posted several times previously, and as stated previously, that is *NOT* the "solution. The solution is to use the beta software that was released that fixes the issue.

There are at least two real issues, and a third possible user-generated issue:
  1. PPS actually crashes when trying to use the import feature - fix is in a Microsoft .NET framework update
  2. Username/password not accepted when attempting to connect to RadioReference - fix is PPS V0.3.16 Beta22
  3. User is impatient and kills PPS when it's in the middle of the initial setup (which can take 10's of minutes) - possibly leaving behind corrupted databases that need to be cleaned up before trying again.
See post #41 in this discussion for download locations for (1) and (2).

Sorry.. but I read the entire 4 pages and my solution was not mentioned in this thread.
... AND what I posted above is EXACTLY my solution and what I did to fix the problem for me.
I posted what I did to fix the problem for anyone with the same problem. Anyone can read and do what I did, I posted it to help others without using the beta version.

Close PPS software ( hopefully you already updated it to the latest)
Under the C:\ProgramData\Unication file directory, rename the "RadioReference" folder to something else (like RadioReferencebad)
Open PPS Software
Click Import Radio Reference icon in upper right of PPS software
Be patient and wait for the DB to import completely. Depending on your internet or whatever the reason, it could take 10-20 minutes.
You can do this procedure instead of uninstalling the whole PPS. Just rename that folder and it will compile it new.

I wonder if it is a RR User ID character length issue ... even with version PPS V0.3.16 Beta22? It works with a RR User ID with 8 characters yet does not work with a user ID with 22 characters ... even when starting with a fresh "RadioReference" folder. Do those having issues still have a longer character RR ID?
