They appear to be running out of room in the evac centers, Coast Guard reporting on NCEMUSCG 52006 that Wilmington Airport will not accept any evacuations, Cape Fear Middle will not accept any more animals.

Deuces, a dog rescued by a Coast Guard boat crew, sniffs around for food Tuesday, September 18, in Pollocksville, North Carolina. Bernard Jones, (left) was in the hospital awaiting the birth of his child when Hurricane Florence flooded the town, and his dogs had been stranded for several days. Meanwhile, National Guard on NCNG1 (52027) is working on setup of multiple distribution centers.

168.8375/ Nac 293 storm ops ???
151.465/Nac 198

i have been logging 168.8375 as well but caught no comms or nac as of yet. i was thinking the same thing, storm ops?

on https://kf4lmt.com/ he mentions recent reception of 345.0 and 166.4625 both coming out of an E-8 JSTARS so it appears we can set fire to the rulebooks again. smores?

151.465 nac198 any chance that is VaSTARS? i have gotten similar in the past and later realized the nac and odd freq were likely VaSTARS based on evidence i have long forgotten. sorry if i am wrong on that.

Sorry to post this so late in the game but I just got back after a 15 hour ride back to N.Y. from Southport area. I left on last Tuesday night to board up and keep an eye on my home down there. I ended up staying at a local FD and running dispatch on an old VHF channel due to VIPER continuously failing in the Brunswick Co area during the height of the storm until Saturday. When VIPER was working all FD traffic was being carried on BCTAC1 and then assigned a TAC for operations, there was no paging for agency responses (planned). Radios kept going into FAILSOFT which prevented my agency (and I am sure others) from being able to communicate with BC. We finally got a page on late Wednesday over the Fire freq to switch to Zone Z Chan 12 which is 8 call 90 and Tac 93 for the Southport area. That lasted until late Friday.

FIRST AND FOREMOST THANK YOU for your service during this storm.

Great info, thanks for contributing it. Haven't heard anything except automated channel IDs on 8 call 90 and Tac 93 from Raleigh (identified as SHP Training Center).

bout forgot CAP operating outta ISO heard on 148.15 discussing photo missions and in comms with OMAHA, which i was reminded of when i re-noticed:

N101CG A008A4
Costar Field Research LLC N101CG
United States Civil
Cessna 208B

also the CAP flight was going to have to stop their photo mission "until the TFR expires". so much for not interfering with recovery efforts. (NOTE:this is not a directed slam, please do not misunderstand this as politics is not anything i desire to discuss here. this is the third POTUS i have watched show up at a disaster at a point i considered rather soon after the fact "not-interfering". they interfere wherever they go, anytime anyplace. a TFR aint making traffic flow any smoother, but i just found it notable that a participant in the recovery specificly stated that there was interference, just like one would expect)

N1GAW: found the KNKT NOTAM that i totally overlooked before that a sharp eye could have seen as being just a hair bit different than a normal "be quiet, change of command ceremony" etc. NOTAM:

M0469/18 - RAMP FREEZE IN EFFECT. NO MOVEMENT OF ANY KIND IS AUTHORIZED ON THE AIRFIELD WITHOUT PRIOR APPROVAL FROM AIRFIELD MGMT DSN 582-6922/4757/2233, COMM (252) 466-6922/4757/2233. man there is a load of stuff out there, before i could even edit this i noticed a load more stuff including N611MG CAP41xx etc. I am starting to get the feeling things are more dire out there than media has represented. seems like its all hands on deck etc. any thoughts on that ?

================

man this never ends.

yesterday heard transiting the area "Helo72469" which doesn't follow what i am used to hearing figured it was a UH72 but google indicates could also be a Fed bird. then today same format "Helo74637" en route to KSVH and a comment about thank you for your service leading me to believe the pilot has some military connection. normally its "November 7-4-6-3-7" (though cant recall having heard a helo that was all digits that was civ) or its "ARMY 7-4-6-3-7" "GUARD 7-4-6-3-7" etc. anyone knowledgeable or better/faster with the google-foo on this?

what is going on wih the loopdeloops here with OMAHA?? saw a MC-12 that did something similar yesterday but his is really odd

NG/Army SAR helos are using HART xxx (last 3 digits of tail number).

New Hanover just announced on LZEASTDIG (51580) it had a military helo inbound with a large supply drop. Diverting Med helo due to the pad being occupied.

Thought you'd like to see Coast Guard Helo 6030 who's been helping out with the SAR efforts and some of us have been listening to for several days.

Haven't heard anything except automated channel IDs on 8 call 90 and Tac 93 from Raleigh.

My inclination is that it was a very local base station (possibly on the Southport water tank or one of the cell towers) I didn't hear any repeater tail and some units came in poorly suggesting that there were simplex.

We assisted Monday night Tuesday morn to Surf City to a structure fire that was probably arson. Fortunately VIPER was up and running at that time otherwise it would have been a nightmare to coordinate all the agencies coming in.

Overall comms were usable with being able to contact "C" comm on some channel. My best guess is that the failure of the trunking portion of the system was a failure of the sites to be able to contact a system controller. I don't know how it is set up down there as to whether it is multiple systems tied into a central core in Raleigh, or all traffic must go through Raleigh and back. If it is that later maybe a rethink is in order.

I appreciate the support

A second thought has anyone heard whether the local TV stations have been able to get to their transmitters. Starting on Sunday they began each news broadcast that they might go off the air due to inablilty to refuel the TV stations generators.

8tac90 etc

FYI the 8tac90, 91, 92, 93, 94 sites are not linked and are separate from VIPER. There are many all over NC and hundreds are located nationwide. For example Greenville and Raleigh have them and they are not connected. Even Virginia Beach has them. Look in the NIFOG if you want to learn more about their purpose. There are also 7tac90 etc ones.

Though I would pass this on since some are being used at flooding areas.
